Isn't R2S more sensitive to oil and more responsive to the dry?
I remember hearing that from someone a year ago. Adking because I am still looking to replace my Tropical Storm. Any help would be appreciated.
-
I personally think its the other way around.
-
Opposite, northface28 is right...
-
So I should be able to trust this ball to snap off the dry more secure than R2S?
-
First generation Reactor is more skid/flippy.
-
That explains the backend Strength of the Tropical...
-
R2S is stronger but there were some balls that supposably (I am a skeptic that storm tweaks the covers a lot and uses the same name) like the Original Agent that had Reactor and hooked a ton

Different core, different times (less oil, less viscous oil)

This!!! I wish more people kept this is mind when they are clamoring for yesterdays balls on todays conditions.

For the 2handedrook
There are a lot of Tropicals!
I have always been impressed by the strength of reactor coverstock generation 1. The Hot Rod Super Sport Pearl was an absolute GEM of a ball. The solid was very tacky and jumpy.
In many ways I thought they almost don't seem to hardly be effected by carrydown. Of course one has to move outside when there is a lot of carrydown but it keeps driving.
On fresh they are quite driving except the Tropical Heat Solid Indigo can be smooth compared to many of the others.
I have never thrown the R2S yet! Though I have a Freakn Frantic ready for some holes! Oh my!
Regards,
Luckylefty
PS I got to throw three oil logged older solids yesterday, a Roto Grip Silver Streak, a Grand Illusion which I see as probably Rotos version of Reactor and a TiMessenger solid. Boy that Grand Illusion on a chopped shot with some head oil surely drives. The others more oil logged!

I do beg to differ as a friend of mine that is on Storm staff has a couple Agents he throws a lot still, and actually just drilled up one from his stash two months ago and it out hooks his Gold IQ.

There is ALOT more differential in the Agent than the IQ tour balls. In fact, the Agent core had more diff than the Centripedal core in the Prodigy/Marvel/IQ balls. This would account for the more hook. Plus, reactor doesn't slow down as fast as R2S, so you can get more change of direction, resulting in more boards covered with such a strong core.
-
So if I loaded up on the differential of a ball that has the reactor color, could I achieve a similar effect.

Agents have more differential, were dull solids and dull particles, in addition to pearl. IQTP is a pearl, even if it is R2S. What's the oil pattern? There are so many possibilities when you're comparing apples and oranges.
The bottom line is the R2S coverstock is more aggressive than a Reactor coverstock, when you're using the same core, same bowler, same oil pattern, same drilling.

Differential is built in to the ball. It is the difference between the high rg and low rg swing planes. A strong layout will maximize the flare potential (differential) of the core, and weak layouts minimize it. But unless you are going to use a crater of a balance hole and an ultra deep, huge thumb hole to alter the shape of a core, you aren't going to "load up" differential in a ball.
