Title: Rapid fire pearl
Post by: oldguy0621 on November 03, 2008, 04:39:37 AM
Getting a new "RFP" and want to keep it rolling like new as long as possible. Other than the obvious wiping after each shot and clean after each session. Any suggestions on care IE: cleaners, baths, etc. I bowl mostly league conditions med oil.
Thanks

There's nothing more to be said really.  Just follow your standard maintenance schedule as you would for any other ball.  Clean after every set, deep clean after every 10 games or so with something like Clean N Dull, refresh the surface at around 30 games, and extract oil after 60.  You may need to alter the schedule slightly depending on lane oil/surface that the ball is used on.

Old guy, I would say just pay attention to the ball's reaction.  With polished balls the polished surface begins to wear off after a while - the finish starts to look hazy in the track area.  But this is not a problem so long as you like the ball's reaction.  You only need to be concerned about surface preparation if the ball starts to roll out, or doesn't snap as hard on the backend, or whatever.  then just take it to the pro shop and have it taken down to around 600 grit, then gradually higher grits until finishing with the factory finish (1500-grit polish?).
