Reign fragrance
« on: October 03, 2009, 11:42:43 AM »
Is it just me, or is the scent on the Reign one of the most subdued fragrances in a long time?  I could barely smell anything over the Virtual Energy that was a few feet away.

Some ppl can pick up other smells sooner than others. the virtual is just one of those balls that seem to out stink the others.

True, but you would think that with the Reign right under my nose that I would not be able to smell anything other than cinnamon.

I'm surprised in the amount of interest storm scents have received.

I don't think it's so much the Reign not smelling strong, rather I've found that the VE smell is really really pungent. I can smell that ball from 4 lanes away.

to be honest i think its a waste yeah when they came out with the x factor and flash force and the rest of that first wave of scented it was kinda a novelty. now it really seems to be like they do it just casue we expect it and some of there fruit fragrant balls are way to strong while others are barely noticable. besides the "HEY SMELL MY BALLS" has lost its humor at the lanes

You're just getting old.  "Ball" jokes are like farts...they're always funny to the immature mind.  (I must be really immature because I laughed out loud when I read the last line of your post.)

Here are a few of my favorite "ball" jokes:

"Hey I've got 15 pound balls!"

"Hey my balls are big and black!"

"Mama always told me to clean my balls!"

I don't think that scented bowling balls have lost their effect. As a pro shop operator, I've noticed that it still has it's appeal the new bowlers when they come in.

Sure those of you who have been in the game long enough think it's lost it's "Wow" factor, but truth be told, it is unique as no other company does it.

The Fragrance is a cool aspect to new bowlers purchasing bowling balls, a joke to the those who have a sense of humor with "smelly ball" jokes, and a source of intrigue to many people.. The first two questions I get when a new release is announced are "What does it do?" and "What does it smell like?"

As for the original poster, when I am around the Reign and Virtual Energy, I definitely smell the VE more, which is fine because the Reign makes me want to grab a stick of Big Red and I hate that gum

We have a blind league on saturday afternoon at my center. The blind bowlers are able to tell which ball is theirs by the smell. One of those little things that has really helped handicapped bowling, but people don't think about.

It's definitely not as strong smelling as my Furious, very weak cinnamon scent. But the ball is sweet!

I took my 4 year old to the pro shop and it was hilarious letting her smell every Storm ball!
"MMM, smells like bubble gum.  MMM smells like candy.  MMM smells like cake.  Ewww, that's disgusting"
The last one was...the Reign!  Cinnamon is not little kids favorite

I guess it's better than, "This one smells like a bowling ball."  That's what she said when she smelled a WD.

Everyone in the shop got a kick out of it.
