Reaction Questions
« on: January 29, 2009, 07:09:57 PM »
I really like my Rival, I think it's because of it's strong(ish) midlane and not so jumpy backend.  Only clean backends or short patterns make this ball a little hard to play with.  Anyways, it's my opinion that I match up best with such a reaction, and I was wondering which Storm balls currently are like that on the right oil pattern.  Here's which ones I think fit that profile

Dimension
T-Road Solid
Hy-Road(with some surface)
Street Rod

This is a bit off topic but I'm wondering if it's a bad thing to only use balls with this type of reaction.  If I could, it's all I'd use, but I really think balls with more length have their place as well.  Now, I don't mind the length, but when the change of direction downlane is more violent, I don't seem to match up as well.  For weaker balls, I think I'd prefer to keep the more controllable backend of the Rival(although covering less boards), just with more length.  It seems like for most people the big backend balls open up the lane, but the Rival isn't quite as violent and it does the job for me.

All those balls are "strong(ish) midlane and not so jumpy backend". Dimension and T-Road for heavier volume, Street Rod for less volume, and the Hy-Road for versitilty. If you are looking to replace the Rival, I say go with the Hy-road.

Not looking to replace it, it's just that I seem to like that kinda ball motion.  so when looking for a ball for different conditions, especially heavier oil, I might look at balls with that kind of reaction.
