Since BBR went and died, I'd like some info on this ball..

Coverstock..

Core..

Best conditions for it..

Can it handle medium - heavy oil on todays surfaces..

Any info would be welcome..

Outstanding ball, sad to see it's time run thru as I drilled 3-4 of these for personal use over the last couple of years.

I like the versatility of the ball. You could scuff it or shine it and get two distinct reactions. You could lay it out pin up or down and get distinct looks that way also.

Since Storm is slotting the Reign of Fire in the position the T-Road used to occupy, I hoep it lives up to those expectations.

Wasn't there a chart that Storm published at one time that showed the strength of each of their covers from weakest to strongest?

I'm trying to see where this would fit and if it could cover the med to med heavy oils of today..

Curelyon is one of the weaker resin covers Storm has ever used.  I wouldn't expect it to be very useful on today's longer or heavier patterns.

Unless you use 20 grit, the cover on the Thunder Road solid will not hold up to todays heavy oiled lanes. However, I use a Charge in the house that I drill out of (which has alot of hook, and the Natural absolutely shines), and it rolls good. The Charge has a pearl version of the cover that is on the Thunder Road. If you are bowling on low volume, high friction surfaces, you should be ok.

they only made the t-road solid. Now as you indicated later in the thread as the thunder road it's not a remake as it has a newer much stronger cover with the troad solid compared to the thunder road. But storm's site is good with discontinued balls with specs and whatever else. I have a chart somewhere with covers from strong to weak, just need to find it...

For it's day it was a strong ball but for todays conditions I would say medium. Core is the same as one in the recently discontinued T-Road series but a weaker cover. When they were new i used to have at least 4 in my arsenal at any one time.

What....lol....sorry but why would storm come out with the Natural. Which is a all urethane cover stock with no resin additives. Also keep in mind Rhino Page won the Viper shop with a urethane. So why wouldn't you "expect" it to be very usefully on today's patterns

He specifically asked about "medium - heavy oil on todays surfaces."  He didn't say anything about short oil, or light volumes of oil, or bowling on an extremely worn lane surface.  In those cases, yes, it'd be a viable ball.  But that wasn't his question.  So, there you go.
