LL,
It is hard to explain sometimes. My personal experience was the Reign in box finish was very skid/flippy. I hit it with 4000 and it was like I had drilled a different ball. The ball got more controllable, but still had that nice pop on the back. I had to do the same thing with the Reign Supreme as it was a dart out of the box for me. The RS was great for me when the front just started to evaporate and everything started up too early for me.
Now the Reign of Fire was a whole different ballgame for me. The ROF was always too early if I squared up, or not enough if I got some separation with my feet and target. The cover was one of my all time favorites, R2S. Put that cover on the T-Road solid and I drilled 3-4 of them up over about a year. Put it on a slightly higher RG core like the CAM one and I couldnt wait to unload the ROF.
The Invasion is great one to look at when you ask about cover/core combos that are not for the masses. The Invasion to me was very early and stopped unless I picked up the ball speed about another 1 - 1.5 MPH. I seen a lot of those get sold fast by guys who like to hook it as it set up too quickly to some of there likings. Now put that cover in a pearl version around the same Origin core and the Anarchy is a cult classic with a the big handers and many of those folks around here are still trying to find them.
Cam core? This was the same core as found in the Reigns which seemed to be popular in the Reign pearl but not so much in the Reign Supreme.
Though there were many positive reviews on this site it seemed many Reign Supremes were purchased and quickly sold? Why? What type of bowler liked the Reign Supreme in such glowing reviews? Up the backers?
Why did some real strong core balls like the Hyroad end up being so much more popular than this ball with a core that seems like it would be more usable on lighter league conditions than the HyRoad.
Thoughts?
Regards,
