Reign of Fire Drilling
« on: May 10, 2010, 12:57:31 AM »
I have my Reign of Fire drilled 4X4, polished up and it is still very strong. This is also throwing the ball at 16mph. Is there another drilling method that would be less aggressive and would help the ball get further down the lane? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

yeah a 4x4 drilling is much too strong for this ball IMO.  You could try a 5x3 or even a 6x5.  The 5x3 is more of a "regular drilling" as in more people probably go with something similar too that, it would stick the pin somewhere in the middle of your fingers above or below.  The 6x5 is used by people who tend too rev up the ball alot and want a ball to get down the lane before burning up, it generally would stick the pin somewhere over in your negative quadrant(somewhere over by your middle finger), this drilling keeps the track nice and tight.  There are all different kinds of drillings you could try along with surface adjustments too make your ball go longer.  You might want to check into the the dual angle drillings also.

Well I have mine 4x4 but I wanted an oiler ball that rolled earlier and hard and does that but knew that going in. What Gunnz said below if you wanted more length to drill it around 5" to pap.
Or just keep it as is, prep the surface and highly polish it. Or just look into getting another ball and something less aggressive.

For those of you that buy the hook in a box ball''s, YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL HOW YOU DRILL IT. I don''t know how many times you see post''s like help ball is to strong or how do I get more length out of ball x. Most of these people have the ball drilled 4x4 or stacked leverage. Well what do you expect??? Do some homework before you drill the damn ball. bigdog I am not putting you in this catagory, because I didn''t bother to ask or find out more about you. I just am amazed by the number of people who buy big hooking balls and then complain how strong they are because they are not drilled properly for the conditions they face.
