My son is looking to replace his IQ Tour with something that won't leave a tap
He's finally gotten tired of the 9s when they're not necessary.

Anyone want to suggest a similar style ball that will carry?
Thinking Torrent or Hustle Ink, but open to suggestions.

If you want carry can't beat the Hy-Roads (nothing hits like a 2 piece).  A bit longer and more angular but still a benchmark ball for a lot of people especially on house shot.

If it is for a THS, then the HyRoad is a great ball along with a Torrent, depending on what type of look he wants.  HyRoad is more in the backend than the Torrent which is smoother.

The Hustle Ink along with the Match Up Solid are good weaker choices.  The Code Red with some surface and the Phaze II would be good steps up.  Code Red for those who like asymmetricals and Phaze II for the symmetrical crowd.  Downside is the maintenance required on the Phaze II.

On the Roto Grip side, the Dare Devil Trick is a more current !Q Tour.  The Show Off could be good, but surface will be very important to keep exactly how you like it to keep it consistent.

I know this is a Storm bowling forum and I may be committing heresy but I have heard the Venom Shock described as the sister ball to the IQ Tour and seems a very popular choice for benchmark.  Haven't thrown it myself but yeah agree that I haven't been all that impressed with my IQ Tour on house shot either.

Venom Shock is my vote. slightly stronger cover. Very similar core numbers, though the core shape does differ. I do not see tap city with the shock unless you are too deep and the angle is too much for the little engine. But if you can stay right, it beats the 10 out. My vote for a cheaper, but in most ways better IQ Tour replacement.

Agree on the Venom Shock.  I was only suggesting Storm products since this is a Storm forum. 

Also, not sure if the OP's son is collegiate with sponsorship.  But then again, I guess the coach would assist.

Actually he is currently in tryouts for his college team. They aren't sponsored so no commitment to any one brand necessary.

He really doesn't play deep with it. Maybe 23 left foot, out to 10 at the break. If anything else deeper, he'll change balls as he will really leave 10 pins.

Unless 9 spare is a good frame course. Can't spare when you need strikes.

He loves the shape and look the Tour gives him, just hates the 9 count first balls.

If you can't get your hands on a 900 Global X, get an X2 when it comes out. Basically a stronger X, coverwise.
