Not much SONIQ love————WHY?
« on: July 02, 2019, 12:54:44 AM »
I never did see much love or hype about this one.

Was there something “bad” about it?

They used a weak cover on a very low rg ball. Stronger cover on super sonic matches up a lot better.

I guess I'm one of the few people that love mine.  Multiple 300's and 800's with it, and is my go to ball.  Easily nearly 500 games on it and it still reacts great.  But pretty much any ball in the IQ line has been money for me.

I love my Soniq. My pro shop dude drilled mine pin down. It is very smooth and controllable. It was my first game, fresh oil ball over my HyperCell Fused this past winter league. My bowling center is known for a lot of oil in the center of the lanes.i

For spinner types and low rev guys that keep it in front of them it's a good ball. For higher rev, faster speed types, it's not enough cover for inside and too much torque to feed it to the friction.

I could never get mine to turn the corner..I'm on the second drilling and have just given up on the ball..Might just become my new boat anchor this summer..I'm hoping the emerald iq will be better if not I'm done with the ig line..

Anytime you try to circle the lane the core just bogs the ball down. This ranks up there with Optimus as one of their worst Pearl balls. (For most players, I know it will work for some)

Exactly, I couldn't get it to corner like you would expect a pearl to so I keep mine at 3000 and use it on more volume when I can play straighter angles.  When I try to open up the lane, it appears to rev up nicely but just doesn't get through the pins properly.  It's very condition specific for me but a bit more useable with some surface.

Biggest reason is most expected similar to Marvel Pearl. It was not as smooth so most soured on. Still a fantastic ball but didn’t get the love for that reason.

It's either 570 or 770 for my buddy....no in-between..tells me it's too condition specific

Yeah if you have the volume up front or throw it like Norm Duke, it's great, but I can't get that core down the lane at all, I'd need 30 units to throw either it or the Super.  I got a new one, went pin down 5", and it was still digging at my feet.  Glad we have the Idol Pearl though!!

Have to agree with Luke, Soniq hooked at my feet and puked at the pins. I really wanted to drill a Super Soniq but was so traumatized by the Soniq I couldn’t do it lol.

It all sounds right above.

We have a low rev lots of loft guy that loves the SonIQ.  He now has backend.

We have another low rev straighty righty who loves the Super Soniq!  Both look better than the other.

I have also seen Brian Kretzer and some of the other PBA 50 guys loop the lane and really control it on a quite wet pattern  block 2 on the PBA 50 tour.

From the big hands boys I am hearing not smooth like the Marvel lots of midlane and lots of kick.

Sincerely,

Luckylefty
