Ride vs Devour vs Uproar
« on: August 14, 2015, 09:22:24 PM »
Looking at a Ride based on the reviews.....like the comments about smooth arc for drier patterns.

How does the Uproar and Devour compare and or how much stronger?

Thanks

I've never rolled the Storm Ride.
The Devour looks like a Roto grip Wrecker from 3 years ago, only its a solid coverstock and not a Hybrid. Perhaps it's sort of a new Rumble.

The Uproar is old, came out 2.5 years ago, and I don't see them being used anymore.

The Joy Ride based on numbers and research by me looks longer and has much less flare than the latter 2 balls.

I know 2 people that bought the Joy Ride, I was amazed at the carry it had, crazy carry to say the least. But that was new out of the box, I don't see good carry coming from the ball 8 weeks later.

Im not a fan of Roto Grip anymore and prefer the Storm product line. Would I buy any of the balls, no. I already owned the Rumble and dumped it 4 months ago. I don't have the rev rate and higher level of axis tilt to take advantage of the Devour and Uproar.

Oh, don't buy into the reviews, there just penguin content that been copied and pasted, except for Josh T"s review, he actually composes his own.
Everyone is different. I only use Roto Grip exclusively. I am not on staff, and I match up. Not all balls will match up with everyone, Roto included. I still see many Uproars being used. It doesn't matter how old a ball is, if the ball fits your need, you will use it. Do your research, and check more than one persons review, or if you can talk with someone that has the ball. Also go over it with your proshop, see what he has to say and see if it will match up with your game. Research is the key. I can tell you the Uproar is more of a skid flip ball for me, I use it on lighter volumes.

Some good info thanks.....I guess I am more looking for an order of strength and the type of motion between these. Strength wise, My guess is the Devour then the Uproar and then the Ride, with the Uproar being the most angular of the three.

Haven't seen the Devour in action yet but as for the other too you nailed it and that is what I'm expecting from the Devour also.

Uproar is one the best bang for your buck. That bad boy is muddatruckin strong on a house. I believe its one of those balls u can throw all three games on any house shot. Can play outside inside all the sides.

The UpRoar is strong but for me only carries so deep!  Could be drilling dependent.

As a pearl it pushes less than others.  I call it my rev up and slurve ball!  I am convinced there is a strong bit of grittiness or some version of particle in this ball.

I can carry with my 4 3/4 4 3/4 cg and pin up if I can throw left of 14.  Rounded move lots of energy and control and tons of pinging.  Left of 14 rack after rack in the pit!

Oh, as to the Devour I understand it is the Shooting star with less differential from reading the specs.  Similar spec numbers to the UpRoar but the Shooting Star Core shape.

Devour-Strong but doesnt change direction very hard at all
Uproar-stronger and more angular than a ride. Less overall hook than the devour
Ride-Weakest of the bunch by far. Not a very angular piece as far as shiny balls go.

Hope that helps
