IQ Tour

I've been eyeing this ball for awhile and read a lot of good reviews but the negative reviews seem to all say the same thing about the ball soaking up too much oil and causing a lot of over and under reactions after 30 games.. How is the IQ Tour holding up for you guys?

I've never heard about the IQ Tour soaking up a lot of oil. It uses the R2S cover at 4000 abralon. I mean I guess it could soak up more if you were only bowling on sport patterns with higher volumes, but if you're mostly bowling on a house shot then I'd doubt it would soak up a lot of oil.

If the reaction changes after 30 or so games, it's possible you could just need to refresh the surface.

I'm not sure what is different with the IQ Tour Solid but the cover seems softer or something, it definitely lane shines incredibly fast and is a ball you really have to clean after every use and almost everytime out refresh the surface with a 2000 pad. If you keep up with the ball will last and roll well, but i've found (I'm on my third, burned one out and had a bad layout on one) the ball needs a ton of maintenance compared to a lot of balls on the market.

One problem with low differential bowling balls is the tendency of drillers and bowlers to drill them too weak!  Too great a pin to Pap distance on low flare balls can lead to funky reactions.

I have seen Just Rico talking about fixing these situations with weightholes and I have done it myself but for many these lower flare balls stay duds without very careful tweaking.

Simple strategy is drill them slightly stronger than their stronger cored brethren!

IQ definitely tamed down for me some, but still a ball I like on flatter shorter patterns.  Out of the box it was so smooth and controllable off the break point that I had a tendency to not put it away when I should have.   

It was never meant to be a "hook the lane" ball on house shots.

I've had mine for a few months now and it is my benchmark ball.  First out of the bag and am loving it.  I haven't seen it really tame out or "Ball Death" at all.  I clean it after every set with Storm X-Tra Clean and have never had a problem.  I do however see it start to burn after a game or so.  I'm high flush and get stuffed 10's out the a$$ once it starts to burn.  Bleeds just a little too much energy.  I then ball down to a Heat Solid and carry returns.  Overall I was and still am impressed with the ball.  I have been waiting for a new hybrid since the Virtual Energy and the IQ Tour Fusion is going to be it!
