812 with Dimension -- First 800!
« on: September 02, 2008, 01:36:52 PM »
267-278-267 = 812

I never had to move a board all night, I was able to camp out and just baby swing from 9 at the arrows to 6-7 at the breakpoint, keeping my speed up and avoiding using too much tilt to generate some earlier roll.  A couple ringing 10 pins were the only times pocket shots didn't carry.  I stuck on the approach a couple times and missed my target badly -- I got my first backdoor strike in about five years early in the 3rd game, but left a 6-7 off an errant shot just a couple frames later, but converted it to save the 800.  It's a shame I couldn't put a 300 in that set, but I've had a couple of those before, so I'm not too bothered by it!

(The only downfall for the night?  I lost doubles by 4 pins.  $179/person down the drain with that ringing 10 pin the 8th frame... )

This is only about my fourth set with the Dimension, and I tried installing Vacu-grips in it, absolutely LOVE them and the way it gives me a consistent feel all the time (goes great with the Vise IT thumbs!).  Big thanks to all the people on this forum who have recommended Vacu-grips -- nobody I know around here uses them.  Big thanks to Storm for making great equipment, and also thanks to Doene Moos for some very helpful coaching advice a couple months ago!

Congratulations Dan!  800 is extra special, with or without a 300.  Since you've already done that, don't give it a second thought.

A friend of mine shot 300 with a Dimension last night (spent half of my night throwing plastic, but he's strongly speed dominant).

Nice shooting! I love my dimension, its just a little to strong. Shot decent with it last night, nothing to write home about.

No, as in I completely, totally missed the headpin and left the 1-2-4, and something rolled into the 4, knocked it forward into the 2 which fell forward into the headpin.  Quite possibly the worst, luckiest strike I've thrown in my life.

Congrats Dan!  Just goes to show you great things can happen when you least expect it.  Storm seems to be doing great lately and I'm considering them for my next ball, unfortunately I want something above my Rival and I think the Dimension is the only one that fits the bill but it's too much ball for what I want in my opinion.  I've also had a backdoor strike once, although that day of bowling was pretty bad altogether I'm sure.
