...while running the risk of being flamed, it was a lot less than I expected. The guy throwing the ball has a TON of hand, there was ample amounts of oil, the ball was left OOB, and it was a THS with decent backends. 16.75-17.00 mph ball speed, mid 400's with around 30 degrees of axis tilt. Can wheel a White Dot if he had to. THE VG he punched out seemed to really glide a lot cleaner through the midlane where some of his other equipment made a better read. It's drilled pin over bridge(about 5" to PAP) with around 4.75" PAP to key. With the change in weather, it's barely above 20 degrees right now, there's always a change in the landscape of the shot this time of year. However, last night, bowlers with hand and a little surface fared well as the shot really broke down nicely and the twisters could wheel it midway through the second game and needed only to kick out corners from there on in. It left a couple of us sctaching our melons. I've got one I'm about to have punched out and we changed our game plan to drill the VG after see it labor last night. Even if it's a little strong for me, as I'm a little less hand(375-400 RPM) a little more ball speed(17.0-17.3) and didn't want to see the same result when mine was punched out and would gladly tweak the cover-as the R2X cover seems very receptive to alterations with the Dimensions & Gravity Shifts. At this point, we kinda decided on a 4.25"x 4.00" with a 2" pin buffer. However, a devilsh grin on his face as I left last night tells me he's got other ideas. As far as his pill is concerned, I was wondering if we took the cover down to around 1000-1500 and put a little compound/polish on the ball so it might read the midlanes a little better with the lower grit and take a little harder move to the hole with some polish.

Like you needed another ball John
Did you ever punch up that stuff that Hank laid out for you in Sheboygan?
I punched a Rapid Fire shortly after the clinic and it is now my favorite piece. The thing is silly strong for how I laid it out. I'm thinking about the Pearl with the same layout to go with it. I could probably cover everything but dirt with just those 2 balls.

I'm actually glad to here that. Makes me feel better about the second one I'm going to drill out with a stronger pin than my first. (I have not had chance to use it on a THS with a heavy concentration in the middle.) Always have the option of cover tweaks as well.

There's NEVER a time when another ball choice is NOT part of the solution process!
I've punched a RF and the Black Pearl Reactive which I've kinda put to the side, partly due the fact that I seem to think I know more about my game than seasoned Storm staffers and Silver level coaches. I really do agree with a LOT of what Steve has worked with me on and I'm working most, not all, but most of those ideas into my game. I've hooked up with Satan about three weeks ago and we're still working on a few things on my armswing to keep things less "muscular" and reduce some of the cradling that exists throughout the backswing. The changes we made gave me a very similar ball reaction shape and roll to Ryan Shafer as it moved smoothly throught the pattern and read the backends nicely. Still got some fit issues to contend with, as well. It just seems SOOOOOO short compared to before. IN other words, I've got my work cut out for me right now!

Short not streched with forward I imagine. Did this 3 years ago and never looked back...no thumb wear more forward roll.

Sounds like you are battling a lot of the same things I am. Steve recommended such a huge pitch change in both my thumb and fingers. Everything I've punched since then has been with the new specs, but I have to say that it's going to take some more time to get used to. I'm at the point now where half my stuff is "old" spec and half is "new" which really sucks when making a ball change. I need to get back up there badly since I can sense some old nasty habits working their way back in. I've still got my free tune-up to use, but I'm for damn sure not staying in that hotel again. I bet she is still there trolling the breakfast area!

Well thanks this changed my mind towards a Sauce or Striking Motion now lol
I seriously was liking the ball reaction from TV with Machuga with this ball, I can only buy once in awhile now and you saved me over 200 bucks thanks buddy!!

Barry, don't confuse the trials of a couple of Wisconsin house hacks with the talent that Chuga showed on the Chameleon TV finals. Besides, I have yet to even even punch mine out. Who knows, maybe I'll match up great with mine and a little tweaking will make my buddy's pill the first choice, as well. He called me earlier this morning that he stuck around long enough to win enough money in pot games with the VG to help ease his initial pain!( I wonder why they waited until I left to bowl pot games?
). I have little doubt that my first VG, along with another VG drilled to compliment the first one, will find it's way into mine and many other bags in the near future.

It wheels the entire lane in the video that Britton shot. I wouldn't base my decision off of one account of the balls not doing what you want it to. Like 230 said he hadn't even drilled his up yet. I'm actually shocked it didnt move much for his friend, I have yet to see one that wasn't off the charts strong.

Well just talked with the Pro shop about Striking motion or Pin Slasher, both sound more like what i am looking for versus an oiler.
I only see medium heavy oil one game now in a 5 man league, I am thinking it would be a waste of ball thinking about this.
I have gravity shift and already love it so, not that you talked me out of it but probably too strong of a ball overall for South Point's easy shot.
-
i agree with kidjete, this is just one account, I saw a guy the other night throwing one, and happened to be that night had more oil than the previous weak, warranting a strong solid reactive. And this ball was serious, through the whole lane, strong midlane big backend. I was going to get one, but after seeing him throw it and we have similar revs, I am definitly getting one now.
His had the pin above the bridge, mb about 2-3 inches from thumb.

230, their has to be a logical reason why this guys VG wasn't reading the mid-lane well and really turning hard. You say others were using less powerful bowling balls and having better reaction?
I've seen some vids of the VG and the ball looks great. Plus Machuga's reaction was awesome as well but he's bowling on PBA patterns that have super clean backends!
Have you drilled your VG yet?
Let me know what you think of the ball when you get a chance to use it. The VG is on my list of bowling balls to buy.

I got to try a VG last night. It's the real deal.

I tried both the other night in a Demo Day. The Pin Slasher was about as strong as my Dimension, just a few feet longer and much more angular. The Striking Motion was unimpressive. It really labored to ever turn the corner. Everybody who threw it was leaving 10 pins galore with it.
-
I saw the Striking Motion being used last Monday night by my teammate and was very un-impressed. I expected a much sharper move to the pocket off the dry and didn't see it at all.. Maybe its just a real condition sensitive ball.. He also has the Pin Slasher and I am very impressed with how that ball rolls and carries for him..

After throwing upwards of eight to 10 games last night, on several pairs, after many games of bowling, my buddy has informed me of a couple of things. #1)The ball worked nicely after the lanes had broken down. It appeared the lack of midlane read worked out great with some chances to thrown the ball on a pattern that had been broken down. #2)Some of the mass bias has been removed during drilling that has affected the core dynamics in such a fashion that the drilling is actually weaker than was intended. This info might be contrary to Storm's Key Drilling info sheet. He's already got another one on order and we had solidified a plan for my drilling, as well. 4.5x60 with a hint of bottom weight to get a stronger midlane read. I'm giddy about the aspects of drilling the ball now. Yahoo!

I can't wait to drill one up. Bad thing is lately other than the other night, and I hope that continues we haven't seen much more than medium oil in either of the houses I bowl at.
This will be a ball that I pack around at a unpolished surface for when I find some soup.
I also hope this replaces my dimension, because I have a love, hate relationship with that ball. Drill being culprit, being that I got it used and it has a pin down layout. My rlease doesn't favor those. they burn up to easy.

I drilled mine on tuesday. 5x5 with 2" pin buffer (same as my dimension at 4000 abralon).
The ball is absolutely amazing!!! It seemed to read the lane sooner than my dimension, but the backend on the ball is by far stronger than the dimension. I was roughly 7 boards farther left with my feet with the Virtual Gravity.
It is really hard to explain. I was able to move as far left as I wanted and had no problem with carry especially with an oiler ball. I was also amazed to see that if i hit too much friction outside it still came back, left flat 10 on one of the shots.
Also the ball seems to help you if you miss-hit the ball at the bottom of the swing. It still comes up and hits pretty hard. This ball keeps the pins low which is something I haven't seen out of many new releases from any company lately

I'll share what a higher up once informed me...
When you put the pin and mass bias in a position that they spin over top of one another ... the ball will labor!
From the short description given of the VG, the ball was laboring and the other thing that hit me is that the ball was OOB. Notice the one Chuga had in hand
(1) The light reflected off of the cover (as in it wasn't as dull as the promo picture). Sounds like there was not enough volume to allow the ball to retain it's energy
(2) The pin and Key are not positioned to spin over top of one another.

In other words, do you mean, "stacked"? Anyway yy VG hardly labors at all, I get continuation from 6th arrow.

Let me know if you decide to sell the virtual, I am looking for a single drill. It will work out though, I have heard nothing but good things about this ball!
