Secert Agent or Double Agent
« on: January 15, 2008, 12:20:51 AM »
Which ball is going to move the most in heavy oil? I already have a special agent and a T-Road solid but am looking for something more. Really not interested in the Attitude shift at the point.

How are your Special / TR-Solid drilled and what are there surface preps?  Honestly either of these balls should be able to handle heavier oil patterns...actually I believe the Bowling Digest (or one of the magazine) reviews of the TR-Solid had it hooking more on heavier stuff than the special or secret.  The TR-Solid will store a little more energy for the back of the lane due to the core.

What specifically are you looking for in a ball motion on heavy oil that you aren't getting now...just early roll or are you looking for a ball to pick up a read a bit sooner and have more backend?

Well, for what it's worth, the Secret Agent isn't meant so much to hook big as it's meant to roll hard and provide predictable roll and control in heavier oil.  I don't know much about the Double Agent (I've never seen anyone throw one)  And again, as I stress on here pretty much every day, if you are on truly heavy oil, it's not about which ball hooks the most, it's about which ball generates the strong roll and gives the best entry angle into the pocket.  You may get that from playing more direct than trying to hook it a lot.

I think the Double Agent was the same type of deal as the Secret.  Predictable roll and control I believe...  I am sure there is a difference between them though since the Secret is a hybrid R2S and the Double was reactor pearl particle (I think).

My T-Road solid has the pin a little above the ring finger and kicked out right and is at 1000grit. My special is pin below the bridge and polished. They are a great pair on house shot so i don't want to mess with them. When i bowl on some of the Sport patterns(PBA, Nationals, US Open) I get to much skid out of the T-Road before it hooks so i have to slow way down which kills my timing. I want to get something that is going to start up sooner and not take off on the backend. I have heard that the Secret has a very good roll on heavy oil and just wanted to know how it compared to the double agent.

Secret agent has a strong midlane roll and is very smooth in the back. The Double agent goes a little longer and is much stronger in the back.
