Second Dimension vs. Prodigy
« on: July 16, 2010, 01:41:37 AM »
I am wondering if anyone has thrown both of these using the same drilling and the same surface.  They use the same coverstock and the core RG and differential are almost identical in the two.  So, it seems like the only significant difference in the two (other than the color/name, of course) would be the factory surface preparation (1500 polish vs 4000).  I am not insinuating this is a bad thing by any means, for it seems that factory surface preparation is often better than what I can achieve on my own.  I am just curious.

I haven't thrown either, but there's a video on buddiesproshop.com of the prodigy where they ask hank boomershine some questions about the ball and he says that theres a different load of mica in the prodigy as compared to the second d.  This would account for the increased strength of the prodigy compared to the second d that some have reported (even @ the same surface prep).

I'd volunteer that, given Hank's engineering propensities, I doubt he would change core designs if he really believed it wasn't needed. He put a lot of thought and effort into the Cell's and the 2nd Dimension's core. He would do no less for the Prodigy.
