Secret Agent or T Road Solid?
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:31:51 PM »
I have a birthday coming up, and pretty much have my choice of one of these two balls.  I love the Agents I have, but did miss out on the T Road Pearl, and have heard phenominal things about it.  I have a lot of the high end balls from Storm, and like just about all of them, still use my Paradigm with a lot of success in my Thursday night scratch league, and get a lot of use with my Domination or Thunderstruck Pearl when the lanes break down a bit, or go to my Special Agent if I need more control of the breakpoint.  Wondering which of these two balls may be the best way to go, and which one may give me more overall hook, and an earlier read of the midlane, I'm thinking T Road Solid, but see what you guys think.  I also saw the Secret Agent may be similar to the Shift which I also have, so that may factor in also.  Thanks.

I'm curious as to what the Secret Agent is going to be like also...that coverstock makes it seem like the ball has an identity crisis. Hybrid light particle load 4000 Abralon...my guess is it's going to be Storm's version of a No Mercy or something along those lines; very angular ball. Anybody seen this ball at the open house?

I have heard that the T-ROAD solid is a great bowling ball.  This ball is supposed to work very well on PBA, SPORT and THS.  Most balls work well on THS but few work well on tough patterns.  The T-ROAD SOLID is one of those balls that works well on all patterns.

These responses kind of verify what I thought I heard also, medium length and angular backend, does sound a lot like what my Shift gives me, and the TRS might be a ball that fits my game real well, as I have a tendency to be a bit speed dominant, so the earlier read might be better for me as well.  Don't think I could go wrong with either ball, but leaning toward the T Road Solid.

Secret Agent personally. T-Road will be one hell of a ball although.

Going with t-road solid as the t-road pearl is a keeper.

Thanks Bowl119, I did take advantage of that, that's a great deal, and I'll have fun playing with all the Storm equipment on various shots and lines.  Can't wait.

thegame,

do you subscribe to BTM magazine?  In the July 07 issue they reviewed both balls.  The T-road solid was just a little higher on the sport shot ranking 8/8/7 versus 7/7/6 for the Secret.  The Secret Agent was rated 9 by all on med. oil while the T-road solid was ranked 9/9.5/9 on oily condtions.  The rankings are broken down by stroker/tweener/cranker.

The summary for the t-road solid was that it's like the original thunder road with strong midlane while taking nothing from the back.

The summary for the Secret is that with the OOB finish it's like a pearl in the heads while having extra control on the back from the lt load part. coverstock.  Dulled up, it reacts like a true particle ball with super strong in the front and midlane with a smooth breakpoint at the end.

Disclaimer:  I haven't thrown either ball..just reporting their findings.  I do think if I didn't have a Special or a Shift I would give both of a try.

This was the first time I purchased anything from Buddies. But I can tell you that I will be buying from them more often after the great customer service and prices that they offer.

Glad that I was able to help. Good luck and keep me posted on hwo you like what you bought.

If I brought down a Secret Agent at 4000 abralon to 800 wet sand, would this make it cover more boards overall?

I'd say that if you changed a 4000 Abralon to 800 Wet Sand, you'll cover only a few more boards overall. The reaction in will go from a strong backend reaction to one stronger in the midlane and a tamer backend. It'd be better for longer and heavier oil patterns.
