I've found my Shift great on Wood Lanes, especially when they start to break down. Not much carry down at all where I bowl. In another league I bowl in, has synthetic lanes, and its very iffy on carry down. It seems as if I have to swing it outside of 5 for it get back and to carry a strike. It kind of just skids down the lane with not much break. Yet on the wood lanes, its just a monster of a ball.

Shift has no problem with carrydown - it has a light load of particle to go with the R2S cover.

The SHIFT is a good ball but sucks on carrydown.  I have watcherd one of my friends struggle with his when carrydown is present.  This actually was a surprise to me because of the particle pearl cover.  Usually particle pearls do pretty well on carrydown conditions but that's not the case with this ball.

I second Chitown. I bowl with someone who experiences difficultly with the Shift and carrydown. A great ball otherwise, especially on medium oil.

Unless there are a lot of particles, 1500-grit polished is almost asking for trouble on carrydown.  Take it down to 800-grit with a lighter polish or a compound polish like Rough Buff and it should handle carrydown perfectly well.  Particle pearls typically work very well in carrydown because the pearl gets them through the spotty heads while the particles help create friction in the carrydown.  Just need a little more surface than 1500-grit polished.

Thanks to all that have posted.  What ball do you people think i should get instead.  It really doesn't matter what company.  Or should i just wait till all of the companies come out with their new stuff?
