Domination - Pro Cg
« on: February 21, 2007, 07:39:38 AM »
I just received my Storm Paradigm Domination Pro CG from Bowlingball.com.  Holy cow is that thing whacky.

The pin, cg, and mass bias are so oddly placed it's crazy.

I'm going to take it to my driller and see what we can do with it.  Should be interesting.

Anyone interested in seeing some pics?

GREAT ball for left handed. I specifically look for off set like that just to stay away from x-holes!!!

Why is everyone so affraid to use weightholes?  Do exacly what ebonite says.  Choose a pin loaction from PAP, then MB from PAP, and finally pin height above the midline.  Draw your lines and weigh the ball on a scale.  As long as you are within roughly 2.5 ounces of a specific weight (pos/neg side, thumb/finger) a weight hole will be able to take out the necessary amount.  I just can't stand the fact that people are so against using weightholes.  They enhance ball reaction, which is great for people with low rev rates.  They are also great for people with higher rev rates, as most holes will help to burn off some of the balls energy, making the backend motion for controllable for these players.

I don't know if it's a fear of an XH so much as wanting the latitude to add an XH later for tuning purposes.  That's my take on it, anyway.

I don't mind weight holes, I just wasn't sure if it was even a drillable ball lol.

Looking at the ball now I can see how easy it would be to lay out.  Pin left of the ring, cg in palm, and mass bias below and left of the thumb.  Although my Black Widow has the Mass Bias right of the thumb, and I love that reaction, so I may be inclined to do the same thing with this one,.

With the strength of the MB on the Domination, I would keep it in the strong spot.  This will make the reaction more of what the ball is intended to do.  I'd put the pin up and left of the ring finger, with the MB strong.  The cg will probably end up just under the fingers, so all that would be needed to do is drill the fingers deeper than normal to remove the excess finger weight.

Yes, a real good catch for a left hander. I don't know why they cant label these as cg right or cg left when they're off that much, especially for those companies that bother to label them "pro cg". And its not so much that most people are against weight holes, its that balls like that one would be unable to get legal for a right hander in some layouts. Then the customer is left with a ball he can't use or has to settle for a layout he didn't want. Enjoy it! Joe

So $89.99 turned out to be a good bargain for me.  Add in drilling and I'm like at about $130.

Not too bad, but if I were right handed, I might not be too happy right now.

that wouldn't be difficult to drill for a righty, would just need a bigger weight hole!!

True...I have a Trifecta that looks almost identical to that pin-cg-mb "alignment".  I have mine drilled pin under ring finger with the cg alomst on the PAP and the mb below and to the right of my thumb with a BIG weight hole on the PAP.  I love the way it gets into a good hard roll in the midlane with a strong arcing, continuous backend...just got to have plenty of oil...
