I need a ball for the longer patterns.  Will this ball do the job or do I look elsewhere?

Roto,

That is a difficult question to answer. The problem is that sometimes the VG's reaction is too long, and with a long oil pattern, it tends to slide slide slide and then your at the pins with minimal ball movement. Of course this differs with rev rate though, so if you have alot of hand, you can get anything to turn up. The Vg's strong points are roll roll.. then flip and turn over on the backend which leads to that hockey stick like reaction that you often see on the videos. For a heavy long pattern, you may want to consider the dimension, as it gets into a roll earlier and that is what you need on a longer pattern. With the right drilling the VG can do this, but its nature is just the opposite. I take it you want to stay storm/roto.. You may want look at the Cell as well!
