Special Agent: heavy oil ball?
« on: December 15, 2006, 01:20:24 PM »

I'm wondering if the Special Agent would be a good alternative for heavier oil... or longer oil. HAs anyone used the ball on such conditions? thx!

It seems that Storm puts more faith in the Double Agent for heavy oil... the Special Agent is listed as a Medium-Heavy oil ball.

I think most people don't see true heavy oil, so the SA wouldn't be a bad choice for "heavy oil" just be sure to put the appropriate layout and surface for a juiced condition.

I have a Special Agent and have had a double Agent.  Out of the box they both worked very well through the heavy oil.  I had my SA drilled to go longer and flip harder.  I am getting a high flare with the ball and am very happy.  The ball crushes the pocket and carries very well also.  My double agent seemed to loss its effectiveness at about 50 games or so.  I would go with the SA myself if those were the only choices.  If you truly want a heavy oil ball, my first choice would be the Passion.  It is by far my favorite ball.

I second that motion on the Passion. After a good 65 games the ball is moving just as much as it has since day one, the only difference is that it's become a bit more arcy instead of going a bit longer. Either way it's consistent as could be and just absolutely crushes the rack. I've only left 1 stone 10 pin in my first 4 months with this guy, but I've left a handful of 9 pins

For me the Double Agent for the heavier stuff, and for the carry down.

I had the original  Paradigm and the Double is heads and tails above that.
