Skid flip ball from storm
« on: October 08, 2011, 01:35:26 PM »
I was wondering what is the most skid flip ball storm has ever produced? My first thought was the paradigm. Any other ideas?

I'm throwing the original X-Factor into the mix.  I loved that ball!

I second the Domination. Reactor Pearl cover plus RAD+ core equals extreme skid/flip. Would love to see that cover wrapped around the Anarchy core.

The biggest skid flip ball released is still the 1991 Teal Storm. The Teal Storm made the Paradigm, Victory Road, Thunder Road Pearl and T-Road Pearl look like sissies!!!

Compare apples to apples. In 1991 the volume of oil is nowhere close to today's oil. Coverstocks and blocks are a lot stronger. Teal storm was strong but would not be so in today's environment.

for me i would say the original trauma, fire up, domination but it also had to do with the layout

out of all of the Storm stuff that has been out since the 2000's, I would say the X-Factor, T-road pearl, Fired Up, all rank right up there

my first Xfactor was pretty snappy, but i was also bowling on wood lanes then...

right now, i'd probably say my biggest skid flip ball is my Reign  and Tropical Heat....

I would agree with the reign and fired up. I'm gonna drill a reign 70x4.5x25 and see how it reacts. I have had pretty good success with the reign line. I agree the layout plays a role but I think a larger part is how much side roll the bowler has.

I'm gonna agree with the reign and fired up. Gotta disagree with the teal storm though, on today's lanes not sure if the teal would come back at all except on burned up lanes. The cover is hard and there's not much differential. The teal storm reminds me of the tropical breeze. The layout of the ball of course effects the reaction but when it comes to a skid flip I think that desired reaction has a lot to do with how much side roll the bowler has. I'm gonna give a reign a try. Layout is gonna be 70x4.5x25. We will see how this works tuesday night.

Let us read the question together ... What is the most skid flip ball Storm ever produced?

If we are going to compare "like" balls as some of you want to say, then we can only compare balls currently released as technology continuously contributes to more and more ball in our hands. Today's equipment transitions in the mid lane a lot better than the older stuff so in terms of skid-flip, no they do not skid-flip as violently and we should be thankful as it is more controllable and helping bowlers score higher.

Wreckedthat30, did I read that correctly? You just started bowling in 2009?

The Teal Storm was nothing like a Breeze and I mean nothing. You're reading numbers thinking that is the Bible on reaction. High Score Products did not make a ball like the Breeze, even the Black Storm hooked a lot!
