So near , yet so far
« on: February 13, 2004, 02:13:18 PM »
Asked my pro shop to get me a triple x as soon as his importer got them in. he was playing in a leage Thursday and he noticed me walking towards the shop and nodded so I walked over to him and mentioned the ball he said it was in . I could not belive he had got it so fast because I'm over here in the UK, but I was very exited at the thought of having it that night . So of I went to play some practice games with a friend with the promise that he would come find me when he had finished play. I was sticking my head round the corner to see when he was back in the shop all night and finely he was there so I asked my friend to wait while I go and get it . I got in the shop and waited while he finished up with another customer he put the ball on the counter got it out and handed it to me . It was better than I could have possibly imagined just the rite amount of gold just the rite shade of red and purple and smelt good too. I was holding the ball for a while when I mentioned drilling and he said he didn't have time that night I wasn't that bothered at least I had my ball !! when all of a sudden he said "it was 15 pound you wanted wasn't it?"  Gutted ! I have always thrown 14 #.

He says he can get me one for Tuesday but I was still gutted!

Anyone out there fill my pain or am I being a little childish about all this.

ps i'm 30

Thats not true buddy, I throw 14 and get just as good carry with that as I would with 15, I have thrown 15, some people just have better control with 14# is all.

15 years and still going strong! 15 years old that is! The names Warrior Princess, Xena..Warrior Princess
AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

I have never tried a 15 #. maybe I should but it's a bit of an expensive ball to find out

i actually get better control with a heavier ball, went from a 15 to a 16 lber and got lots more of my spares . all stats show the dropoff in carry from a 15 to a 14 lb ball is around 25 %. i would buy the ball he got drill it up and watch as your control goes up and so does your average. i have found that if the ball is too light then i tend to pull it on spares.

I probably will go for the 15#. I have only been bowling a short time and have recently had two lots of coaching which has helped me so much I think I might actually have a decent average soon. The first lot of coaching was mainly timing (b/c mine was way off) and the second lesson was about arm swing . I was mussling the ball so much it took my coach running along beside me shouting for me to relax my arm for me to have a half decent swing . I have had a few games since then and I am getting more accurate every time because I'm totally relaxing my arm . I think if I get the 15# it would not make that much deference to my swing because I'm finally letting my arm just swing.
