Special Agent...first impression
« on: November 09, 2006, 04:38:17 PM »
Received this one today, a pleasant surprise as it turned out.  Went with recommendation of 4"x3" med hole on axis...stronger layout than I usually use, but I wanted a stronger league ball.  This ball is everything that you would expect: stronger in the oil than the Agent, more continuation than the Double, very impressive hit.  Left the box 2000 abralon which gets through the heads very nice, no early hook.  First impression is definitely a good one.  My personal comparison tonite was to the Passion, which is my absolute favorite ball, but I think the Special will be more versatile overall.

Another ball from Storm that will find a spot in your bag

Only bowled 3 games so far, but hope this helps

Does this ball fit between the Agent and Double Agent or would you say it's a step above the Double Agent in terms of oil handling.

Am I the only one that thinks the logo on that ball looks totally gay?

Might be a good rolling ball but, the logo sucks IMO.

By "gay" you mean bad?  This is a wicked logo.  Actually, Storm designs the best logos out of all the ball companies.  They are well designed and aren't oversized on the ball like everyone feels the need to do.

Looking at Pat's ball, it looks kind of like a Vertigo with a sweet gold logo on it.

Most if not all of the oil patterns I see in and around my home town are primarily the same so I can get away with this set-up, which according to my ball driller is the best lay-out for my particular game.  Unless I see a ton of oil I would be pretty succesful with this layout.  I've always liked this layout so I usually keep it when driling new stuff.  By the way shot 289-206-256 with 30 closed frames with the Domination laid out this way tonight in league play.

I received my special agent yesterday and did some testing with it on a freshly oiled house shot. 38 foot in length with heavy amount in middle and tapering out to outside.  I compared it to my agent and double agent and also the t road pearl.  All were drilledpretty much the same with pin under and just left of ring finger with cg out to strong position at about 45 degrees.

That said t road pearl was the weakest by 5 boards and had a smooth continuous motion to pocket like the other two thunderstrucks.  The agent fell in line next it was 5 boards stronger i was playing 13 at the arrows to about 5 at breakpoint with a very angular violent move to pocket.  Next came the special agent was playin 20 to 8 with this ball and it had much the same move as agent but on heavier pattern but it was not as violent because it being a dull solid  if polished it would be every bit as violent as the agent.  Last but not least came the double agent I was playing 25 to 10 with a very angular strong controlled move to pocket.  All ball are in oob condition.  I wish i could have compared it to others but the rest of my storms are in shop getting refitted i changed my span a half inch and they are all getting plugged.  I will post a real review on the special agent and the t road pearl when they get these balls up and i get more games on them, from what i have seen though they are two solid pieces of equipment.

How does the TRoad compare to the TSP strength wise?
