returning a ball through a pro shop???
« on: November 07, 2006, 01:37:14 AM »
i returned a trifecta through the pro shop i bought it at because it was cracking around the pin. i do use finger inserts, but it was cracking about an inch away from the bridge. my question is when you send a ball off, does it go back to the distributor or the manufacturer? the reason being, the ball was still under warranty, i only had it for like 6-8 months. so the operator tells me that i only have a 75 dollar store credit, is that fair? need some help on this one guys, any thoughts?? by the way, i paid 240 bucks for the ball, so i am a little upset. i know the ball is discontinued but if that is all i get for it then what advantage is it to me to shop in a pro shop to begin with?

I am not sure about American law, but I'd contact Storm about this dircetly and ask about their policy and the dealers' role and procedures. Finally, it is their product and your dealer is an agent between you and the manufacturer. With your name or the ball's serial number, they might even tell you something specific about your case if they are REALLY custumer-oriented.

Sounds a bit fishy to me, as if your pro shop wants to sack a replacement ball and sell you another one - with a nice premium for themselves.

your shop in my opinion is trying to rip you off, probably has not even called his distributor, let alone the manufacturer, tell him no dice and call storm and tell them what he is doing, they will either have you send the ball to them or they will put you in contact with the distributor

thanks guys, yeah it sounded a little fishy to me too. my buddy had a similar problem with a one, and he got the same thing, 118 dollar store credit. see, this guy that operates the shop is not the guy i bought the ball from. the current operator bought out the old guy, so i figured he didn't want to take anything out of his inventory. i guess my next move is to contact storm because they are a storm certified pro shop.

I send it back to my dist (who is coming today ironically) and then when they get the credit from the manufacturer, they credit me...however, in good faith since the product was bought from me, I will allow you to pick anything I have in stock, drill it with grips and slug if you wish, and only charge you the diffrence in sale prices of the balls...or credit u if the new one is cheaper than the original one you bought...

Clint you sound like the guy to be dealing with here, but yeah that is a rip off job if I have heard one.  Its not a prorated warranty, Storm will likely replace the ball, not less than 1/3 of the ball. That is crap.  Get your ball back, send it to storm youself if you have to. Don't be taken advantage of.  I called D/T and got a problem taken care of myself so I didn't have to deal with anybody else in my way, they were great.

We replace the ball first and we will deal with our Distributor after if indeed the ball is from my shop. The only charge to my customer might be for thumb insert if used, Grips are not a problem. I think you better find a better shop to deal with!!!!!!

My shop ensures 100% warranty if you buy a ball from him.  Everything from full cleaning once a month to the ball splitting in half after a year; if you buy a ball from him, he takes care of you.

Kind of an iffy situation as you didn't buy the ball directly from your current owner.  Contact your distributor or Storm and tell them whats up.

Your proshop guy is ripping you off.  Call storm and tell them your problem and they will send you a new ball after they receive your old ball.  I did it a couple of times.  My Paradigm cracked and my Ace.  Storm is a stand up company.

contacted storm an they basically said they like to see distributors give a replacement ball in the same price range. they actually talked to the owner and he told them the $75.00 was all they distributor would allow. so basically storm backe d what the owner said. so, i get the $75.00 store credit, and storm is sending me a shirt to comp the drilling fees might be time for me to switch pro shops and ball companys, that no mercy sure does look good.....

sounds to me like someone at storm is confused, without all the info, my guess is the distributor is closing out the trifectas and has them listed at 75$  well that is not your problem, if you can dig up a receipt that shows what you paid, I would call storm back, tell them you are not looking for money just a comparable ball pricewise to what you paid, not pricewise to what the distributor may be selling them for now

you know heres what gets me, all the shop operators in my area are always complaining about the internet, how they can't compete with online shops. well, if i don't get a warranty with a ball i purchase through a pro shop, i might as well be buying online. the ball was basically brand new, not even 50 games on it. i would b better off getting the ball back and throwing it till it cracks all they way around. at least i might be able to get my moneys worth out of it.
