876 shot in Louisville, KY w/Paradigm
« on: March 10, 2007, 05:01:12 AM »
It is my pleasure to congratulate my Coach, Randy Cook Sr. for shattering the house record of 855 and breaking the Louisville City record of 869. I am pretty sure he was throwing his Paradigm Passion.
He started the night with a 300, then a 279(solid 9) and finished with a 297. He went striaght through the face leaving the 3-6-10 in the 297 game. I was working and got to watch him bowl 34 of a possible 36 strikes. His wife and 3 kids were there to watch him.

Congrats Randy, thats one helluva series!!!

When someone shoots 901, please post it.  These posts are ponderous at best.

I know this guy with a Yellow Dot who shot 900.  He's a hall of famer whose accomplishment is diminished each time one of these monster scores is posted.

But I digress...

The mindset changes...and people begin to think it is possible!

More and more people are getting close  AND SOME...even....doing it!  I heard a guy on this website predicted an increase in the number of these megasets!

Saw an 879 shot in my league last week.  279-300-300 solid 8(lefty) in the first game.

It might not seem like much to anybody else here, but with less than 10 800's, less than 40 300's, and only 1 female 800, an 876 is huge here. To carry a 10-pin here is like winning the lottery. Thats why its called Ten Pin Lanes.
I dont care what anyone else says, I will never forget watching him that night. . .

From some of the replies on this thread, it seems some people are sarcastic in thinking 900 is not possible?  I bet some even think 300 is super rare.  I have seen so many 300's it isn't nothing anymore - hence why I put my 7-10 split make as my best accomplishment ever.  With today's balls and weak house conditions, 300, 800, and even 900 aren't that super impossible anymore.  It still takes amazing skill, but just not seen as so "out there" anymore.  Last week PBA Pepsi tournament, there were like 10 300's during the week plus Ryan Shafer's 300.

Some people certainly are stuck in the past.  This has been a done deal for a very long time.  Mr. Allison is far more famous for not being approved than he ever would have been had his 900 been declared official.

If you cannot feel happy for others' accomplishments because it may (in your mind) diminish the accomplishment of a single person, you are extremely selfish.  I seriously doubt Mr. Allison feels as you do.  I doubt Tom Jordan feels bad that his record was broken (even if his four-game record still stands).

I heard, though, that the score was shot with a Total NV.  All the others were.  That ball is so good, it retroactively becomes responsible for past records.

I say go prebowl and post your +800 score. I don't believe there is a 1 to 1 relationship....sets bowled and +800s.  I don't have one in practice or prebowl...I'd like one!

I don't think any set above should be sneezed at!  All 800s impress me.  And all 85Xs in my book are sensational.  Only 1 or 2 pins not carried....in all above!  WOW!

Hey Necromancer-
????Don't understand...Looking at your BIO you Don't have any awards scores to speak of!! 7-10 being your highlight!!! You are making a statement that its nothing to shoot 300 or 800's...But yet you have not done so...

What USBC and several others fail to realize that how many NEW people to this GAME shoot there 1st 300 game in one year!!...More important how many NEW people shoot there 1st 800 series in one year!!! My point is that several 300 and 800 scores are reported every year and its by the same great bowlers...Multiple times!!! Im sure Randy Cook Sr is a great bowler and congrats to him...IM sure its not his first award score this year!!!This is not a fluke for him or many others who do repeat this...I love to see new people or 1st time award winners shooting scores...

I would like to see that actual numbers from USBC on the 1st time award score people...Im sure its up from 10 yrs ago or even 20 yrs ago,,,But we would see that its all relative to the technology of 2007...

In golf- I myself can hit a golf ball 280 yards but im a 18 hdcp...WOW- sounds to me that I paid $450.00 for a driver that allows me to hit it 20 yards further and straighter than I could 10 yrs ago!!!

I still like to watch 300, 800's...It is fun and great for the game!!!

Necromancer-My suggestion is that you take a couple more years off then quit...Because your not having any fun and your very bitter!!!

I didn't explain myself correctly.  I was saying that it sounded like people didn't believe when people post their 300 or their 800+ scores.  And then I was saying it seemed even moreso that people didn't believe the 890+ series either.  I am not good at explaining.
