Struggling on fresh

As the title says I've been struggling on fresh oil.  Im not comfortable with anything I've been throwing on it.  The first game is always just plain morbid for me, 2nd game im a different bowler.  

I was going back and forth with my dark thunder and pyro, just cant seem to find any consistency with both of them.  They are both drilled pin above right next to the ring finger.  The cg in the pyro is in my palm, dark thunder slightly right of it.  

I was looking at a passion, not sure if its the right choice.  Everything just doesnt seem to start up early enough for me.   Im an atypical stroker, that needs help!  

My next purchase i was thinking of getting something drilled pin under fingers, but I've never had equipment laid out like that and im not sure what, if anything i would gain from it.

On fresh I would think you might like something pin under the ring. Although the ball is actually going to start a little earlier, it will be smoother on the back end than your pin up stuff.  If you can move in and bump it a little bit, you should be fine until the carrydown begins and you can move to your preferred line.

I think you are right on with your evaluation.  Pick a coverstock that will match up to the volume of oil you normally see on your fresh shot.  If its in the medium to heavier range, I would suggest the passion or the new special agent (both have stronger solid reactive coverstocks...or possibly a vertigo if you can find one).  Go with an earlier rolling, arc-type layout...  for most bowlers this would be a 3.5" to 4.5" pin to PAP, located somewhere under the fingers with the cg/mass bias swung out enough to allow for the use of a weight hole.

This is funny because I am noticing I am having the same problem.  I have been keeping some statistical data on my games and on average my game 1 is  about 20 pins lower than my games 2 and 3.  I am not used to playing on this much oil so I am thinking this is why game 1 is so bad.  

To try to solve this problem I am trying the more end over end roll (leading with the ring finger).

If I had a ton of money I would probably choose to get something like a Special Agent.

I would try an agent series such as a double or special agent.If you need more than those have to offer goto the passion it hooks on ice
So do agents or Passion those are the cream of the crop as far as there high end oil balls.

I would stay with the pearls and try an earlier drilling.
maybe something under ring finger or under bridge (both with CG kicked a little right).  This will cause the ball to roll up quicker.  You really need to try the pin under ring and CG right of your hand with a hole if needed.  It works really well.

I can understand your hesitancy to drill a ball up pin under as I never thought that I would be able to get a drilling like that down the lane. However I recently acguired an Absolute Inferno with a short pin and decided to give a pin under the ring finger drilling a chance. I really like the ball like this. It does start a little earlier but arcs more than snaps and has found a place in my bag for a long time. Mine happens to be polished as I am speed deficent (14-15mph). If you drill one like this you can always change surface to achieve exactly the look that you are looking for.

Buddy of mine who does not have a lot of speed just drilled a Big Time Pearl pin under bridge with a small cg kickout.

All of a sudden he's kicking everything out on our low volume...but long local shot!  He's lovin it(great ball by the way).

I just got a fired up from here from pulze. It looks like it has a 2.5 or 3 inch pin.  The ball is already drilled pin under, i was thinking about trying it with this one.  

I had a fired up a year back that was drilled 4 1/2 strong pin over.  I scored well with it, but the "lateness" of the drilling caused issues with most fresh shots, unless they oiled 37' or less
