Spitfire
« on: March 29, 2007, 02:51:33 AM »
Hey everyone. I haven't posted on this board in a while.

Anyway, I got a spitfire last night. *used ball no more than 20 games on it.* I really like this ball. I shot a 199 with it on my 3rd game. I am sure most of you are thinking big deal I shoot that in my sleep. Well my average is only 137. I am really excited about this ball. Hopefully my average will keep going up.

that is all.

Awesome!  I know someone in the same boat and 199 is an awesome score to get.

Question:  What do you think about your Spit Fire compared to the Hot Rod Hybrid?

Well. I went from a 14lb to a 13lb on the spitfire.

It goes farther down the lane *haven't had a chance to burn a track on it yet*
I have more control with it. *as you can tell I'm not very technical. lol* It does seem to have a smoother back end once it makes its break. I was never able to move into the oil with my hb, but was able to play more inside last night. I always had to go straight up 10 with the hybrid. Ths is normally the great wall of china.

Great game with a 199! I remember when I thought I had my 200 game and it turned out to be a 199 because I added wrong. Pretty funny now, but boy oh boy was I devastated lol

Interesting...  I am going to be testing out a Spit Fire this weekend so I was wondering since you had both balls.  I am pretty familiar with what a Hybrid does.  The only thing I am not familiar with is what a 14 --> 13 pound difference would do.

I am thinking a 13 doesn't have the same core as the 14-16lbs no matter what the proshop guy says.. The reason I went back down is because I was having a hard time controlling the hb and not enough forearm strength (even with a brace). For some reason  I roll a 13 better. I dont understand that one. The hybrid is a great starter ball for someone going from conventional to fingertip. It just did not go down the lane far enough for me. Try it and see how it goes and let me know

The 13lb Storm balls do not have a full core as compared to the 14-16lb balls.  That is not a negative - it is a fact.  If you control a 13lb ball better than a 14lb ball then you have made the right decision.  You 'MAY' loose a little bit in hitting power but if you feel that you can control the ball and get it to the pocket more often then it is a worthwhile tradeoff.

Great bowling!

Thanks green. Yeah that is what I thought. I actually got it for a great deal. I was debating between the spitfire and a *cough*hammer ball. I am glad I chose this one. I did have some crazy splits on the first two games.. but I finally got the idea I was to far left

Then what is the core in the 13 lb spitfire? How is it any different than a 13 lb fired up?
