Is the spitfire still part of the current line or has it been discontinued?

Can someone tell me a little info about this ball?  The reviews on this site were all over the place.  Some said the ball hit like garbage while others said it hit great.  Some said the ball handled oil good, one said it's better for short patterns?

I have a spit fire, and it is the best ball iv ever purchased. This ball does not over react off the dry. I use mine on many conditions, i can play down the boards with it and get a good read due to the core design with the block on the bottom, this ball matches up better then the fired up did for me. I have mine laid out 4.5 x 5 no x hole my axis is 5 x 1/2 up my revs are 300 and my speed is 16.50 mph. I bowl on both wood and synthetic lanes, and I can always get a good read out of the spitfire. Defentally worth the price. If you need more info just ask.

Thanks for the info.

I'm looking at getting a Spitfire because it seems like a versatile piece.  Would I be correct in saying that?  I noticed that Norm Duke had very good success with this ball on all the PBA patterns.  So i'm thinking this ball works very well on just about all patterns with simple cover changes?

The Paradigm was the only Storm ball i've ever had and it was a really good piece.  I want to add a Storm ball to my arsenal for the next upcoming season and am leaning towards the SpitFire.

just because he throws it doesnt mean it is the same ball every time. duke prolly has many spitfires. but it is a very versatile ball, i will give it that.

No doubt, he probably has 20 Spit Fires with different layouts and cover preps. lol

judging what a ball can do in a HOF PBA bowler like Duke hands can lead you to the wrong assumtion don't get me wrong the ball is great but buying a ball based on what you see Duke, Weber, or Jones can do is the wrong way to go about it. The ball is very versatile

I've had my Spit Fire for over a year now. It's a medium oil ball and highly shined can handle med-dry conditions. Mine is drilled pin above ring about 45 degrees with an x-hole on my PAP. I used to like it at 1500 with the factory shine knocked off of it. Once I got an Agent it was only 2 boards weaker so I took it to 1000 and then highly polished it with Magic Shine. There's probably 4-5 boards difference between it and my Agent now.

The Spit fire gets easy length and doesn't over react off the dry most the time unless the lanes are fried. It has a fairly strong but predictable arc on the backend. It reminds me of a stronger version of the original Track Heat. For me if I hit too much dry with it it's a 10 pin leaving machine and loses hit so I like to play it tighter to the oil line. It's done well on house shots(what doesn't?) and on the Cheetah and Chameleon patterns in a PBA league I bowled last summer. I think it would work on most patterns under 40' in length. I did get a lot of over/under with it on the Viper pattern but I think that was more of an issue with how mine's drilled. It also had way too much backend for the 2007 BTM in Reno but for me pin down drillings work better on 1:1 shots like that.
