Double Agent
« on: April 13, 2009, 03:09:47 PM »
Was the Double Agent just a dud or does it roll well with a specific drilling. Just about all I have read on this forum is negative about this ball. I have a 14# NIB and just wondering what to do with it.

More than likely the Double Agent got a lot of bad press due to it not really being the classic ball reaction that most Storm supporters are used to seeing...

the few i've seen have been really good pieces, really strong rolling in heavier oil

I think it was because the Double Agent had a particle coverstock or particles in  the coverstock... It made it an earlier rolling ball than what the core dynamics already showed, with a low rg(2.47) and a diff(.52) it moved alot and early + the particle coverstock

My Arsenal:
Rogue Cell (coming soon)
Bounty(4.5 x 4.75 Fresh 1000 Abralon)
Twisted Fury(5 x 4 500 Abralon + Reacta Shine)
Raw Hammer Pain(Leverage 1000 Abralon)
Blue Vibe(5 x 5 4000 Abralon + Reacta Shine)

Something to keep in mind about this particular core in 14# was how poorly it compared to the 15# core. The 14# cores in the Master and Premier line up were about 0.06 higher RG and almost 0.1 weaker in the differential area.

That might actually be a good thing with the early rolling nature of this coverstock though.

The ball was great in oil!!!!  Ugly as sin when left dull!!!

Not bad looking when polished!!!

The ball performed well on the right shot...

But the ball was just plain Ugly.   I believe it was actually voted the ugliest ball of the year...

But it performed well!!!

If it was a women,  they would say,  Great rack, great butt, great legs, great on her knees,  but ugly as sin.  Put a large brown bag over her face and enjoy...

works for me

UGLY UGLY UGLY...

I loved mine at box condition - but the surface died too quickly for me.  It was a great control oiler at first, but after about 6 months or so no matter what I did to the surface the friction just disappeared.

As far as I can tell Storm and Roto Grip have abandoned particle balls, at least balls that they label particle.

This was a great piece from what I seen of it. I bowl with a guy that is 80 years old he is still a great bowler and holds the Flint senior record at 813. Shot it at 76. Still carrying 205 and shot 299 last year.

Anyway...point is, I drill his stuff and a couple years ago when the DA came out we were experimenting with dropping him to 13# ball weight. Ended up drilling him a 13 and 14 pound DA. Ball is much smoother than most Storms, I agree with that but it still had plenty of hitting power even in the lower weights. His fit is really close to mine and I have thrown both of those pieces in practice and with higher ball speed it really looked good.

I drilled both of his DA's with the same layout..pin high with the CG kicked out. (approx. 5 x 3) This helped the ball get down the lane and continue once it started it's motion. This is my favorite layout and I would recommend it on this ball.
