New Ball Help
« on: October 09, 2006, 05:09:51 PM »
Hello all. I'm in the need of some help. Last week I lost my Vertigo to a fluke accident on the lanes. I'm looking for something to replace it. Now I have a Passion but I had it drilled to hook out of the house due to a problem with one of the houses I bowled at. This is working great at my new house. I'm wondering if I should get another Passion and have it drilled more tame or is there something else out there that would be a better replacement. Looking for Storm product.  Thanks

A new vertigo? You could get a trifecta or a diablo to go under the passion. Since i dont throw particle balls I would get the Diablo.

If you were a fan of the Vertigo get another one.  Even though they are not manufactured any longer they are still available.  I use mine all the time and if for some reason I needed to replace it I would try to get another.

Replace dull solids with dull solids - that's my normal thinking.  I own both the Double Agent and the Agent and I would not recommend either as a Vertigo replacement.  The Double Agent is a few boards stronger than my Vertigo and it is a much earlier roll.

If you are looking for something new I would not replace it with a Passion - especially if you have one already drilled strong.  I would look at either the Diablo or the Dark Thunder and have those drilled strong as well.  IMO a Dark Thunder with a bit more leverage in the layout than your Vertigo would do the trick.

Or, you could go with Storm's lil brother, Roto Grip.  The RS-X is a good strong solid reactive and has the same differential.  I really like my RS-X

So you think that getting another Passion would not be good? I've looked at the other suggestion and see that they are at 1500 grit where the Passion is at 500. Would this not be a big difference?

I wouldnt get another passion, unless you drill it weaker and change the cover on it.
And not all suggestions have been balls at 1500grit. The diablo comes OOB at 800 grit, the DA is also dull and the trifecta is 800 grit

Go the Roto route, new Horizon Solid rather than the RS-X

I think the Double Agent is too strong.

Sorry, I must not have looked at the Diablo or Double Agent specs.
