Pin Buffer
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:47:32 PM »
How important is Pin Buffer spacing and how much does it affect the reaction you see.  When looking thru the Storm drilling instructions, all of the Paradigm balls not only have a pin to pap and mb to pap, but also a pin buffer spacing (1 1/2, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2) from the VAL.  It appears from reading this that laying out a pin closest to your VAL will give you the most dynamics.  Any real world results or info?  Thanks.

Pin buffer closest to VAL is the flippiest off the spot. I had one 4x4 with the pin 1½ from VAL and that ball flipped pretty good. It was a 105 degree pin-cg-MB. Then I had a 5x3 at 55 degrees, with the Pin Buffer 3½ from VAL but ball rolled, very minimal flip.

I discussed this with charlest this afternoon and as usual he was able to explain and cleared it up for me.  It is very obvious now that charlest explained it.  I was getting all caught up in buffer zones, distance from VAL, etc, when actually all Storm is doing is moving the pin further up from the midline with each buffer getting closer to the VAL.  Using a 4 x 4 as an example, a 1 1/2 pin buffer will have the pin the highest from the midline thereby creating the most length and flip and the next buffer will be closer to the midline, etc.  Thanks again charlest for clearing that up.

The whole pin buffer thing has always confused me. Could someone spoon feed it to me with a sling shot??? LOL!
