Storm box finishes

I drilled my vip vertigo weeks ago. It was a 2" pin left it box finish and the ball rolled great. Decided to drill me another with a 3-1/2" pin above ring finger and rad 3" right of grip center and polished it lightly with Storm Extra 2 polish. This ball rolled like crap for me polished. So, I decided to return it box finish. I was told by Storm to use grey scotchbrite. I have plenty years of pro shop experience and this is not my first time doing this. When I used the gray scotchbrite to strip off the polish, it does not look anything close to the 800 matte. This really irks me. This is not the only time I had problems restoring a storm ball to box finish. Actually it looks like 800 satin because it looks nore satin to me and not matte.  Storm is the only ball company that I have trouble returning to box finish. It really burns my butt that I cannot return storm products to their box finish. So anyone out here have any suggestions to get back to box finish. Thank you.

just use 800 grip sandpaper

I knocked down my Razor Wire, I know they are not the exact cover, but I went to 600 grit up to approximately 800 then used Step 1. It did have a bit different look, but I just figured that's because my equipment is not as "professional" as the factory's. It reacted as I wanted it to, after the adjustments I made , so I was happy with it. Not to step on toes, but using Step 2, did you take it up a bit more than you desired ? press to hard..to long ?maybe ?

Actually if you use a Grey Scotch brite pad that is new and go both directions (Top/Bottom then Side/Side) you should end up with the matte finish you are looking for. I have done this multiple times and its almost exactly the same.
The problem is that the factory machines surface the balls very quickly and the ball spinners make it a more fine cut because we spend more time on them than at the factory.

You might use a Burgundy pad to remove the polish entirely and then finish with the Grey.

Just my opinion.

tburky, if you want to see something that "burns your butt" and burns it bad, try Brunswick. Then try to get them to help you with the problem....Doesn't happen. No help. Only ignorance.

I've not had any trouble with Storm yet. I've redone both my Triple X Extreme and also my Triple X with no loss in performance between NIB and what I did when I re-did them.

I did not use a new scotchbrite. Maybe that is what the problem is. I have a 2 speed spinner are you suggesting possibly a higher speed.

higher speed will result in a quicker cut to the surface and will take you less time. As a scotchbrite ages it actually loses its abrasiveness. Try a new one and see what happens I have no problems reproducing factory finishes
