Storm DNA
« on: March 17, 2023, 06:50:55 PM »
Storm’s newest premier line ball is the DNA of what they stand for. This ball features a brand new cover and core combination, starting with the Supercoil weight block that yields an RG of 2.47, Differential of 0.053 and PSA of 0.023 and is wrapped around the EXO Solid coverstock. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 5 and when I first got this ball I was super excited for it because I have had such success with the Proton Physix and Super Nova. Looking at the numbers I thought this ball would be as early and kinda lazy on the back like the Roto Grip Gem was but after throwing this ball for a little bit I was shocked on how much this ball actually continued on the backend. I would say its more of a stronger/earlier version of the 900 Global Reality more than the previous balls I mentioned. I can see myself using this ball as a number #2 ball right after my Proton or Super Nova because its going to be just as strong but offer me a touch more continuation and before balls like the Zen Soul and Eternity. If you feel like solid asymmetrical balls haven’t matched up to your game because they are just too strong but still want to give it a try your going to want to grab a DNA because it gives you the best of both worlds.

Storm DNA
Layout: 5 x 5 x 2 Storm Pin Buffer Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

The Storm DNA utilizes the new EXO solid coverstock and Supercoil weight block. We tested the DNA following the state tournament team squad so probably not the best testing environment.  However, the DNA showed signs of strength.  The ball definitely rolled early and had a smooth overall ball reaction.  I don’t feel the DNA was quite as early as the Gem, but was earlier than the Reality.  Therefore, I feel the DNA falls in between those two iconic balls.  Time will tell if the DNA produces the success those two balls have.
