HyRoad vs 2nd Dimension?

Given all the same variables, layout, oil pattern, ball surface, etc, what are the diffences in ball reaction you have seen?

Second Dimension
Heavy rolling, strong arcing motion

Hy-Road
The Hy-Road will clear a little better and that results in a more angular move down lane.

I have two of each, so I am not partial to either as both balls serve their purpose.

I guess its all in the layout and surface prep, but i see the opposite, my hyroad is heavy rolling and a strong arch and my 2nd clears the front with a strong rool later down lane not really a snap though.  I love the both

I see more the same things as EJ300. My Hy-Road hooks a little more and my nd goes longer and rolls up later. I too like them both.

My Second Dimension and Hy-Road at the same surface compare like this, the 2D rolls up earlier and hooks more, the Hy-Road gets down the lane a bit further and makes a slightly sharper move. The 2D is probably 4 or 5 boards stronger for me when comparing box finishes on a house shot which is a pretty good size difference for someone with a lower rev rate such as me.

I like both balls a lot, I tend to keep a little surface and use the 2D as the first ball out on conditions with oil and drop down to the Hy-Road. That is if I don't just start with the Hy-Road.

It's fun to see how folks see so many different looks. Just shows you the differences in each bowlers physical game and the influence it has on the balls motion.

Thanks for all the replies, they have been helpful.

I am getting a Dimension and a 2nd Dimension and drilling them with the same layout.  Do you think there would be too much overlap if I drilled the HrRoad with the same layout as well?

If you leave the 2nd and Hy-Road at box condition the answer to your question is hell yes!  I always find it interesting how much time people spend with layout and how little time they spend on surface prep.  A Hy-Road and a 2nd Dimension both at 1500 polish (box) with the same layout will be very similar.  Assuming you left your Dimension at box as well I would decide which of the 2 new balls you want to be rollier and change the surface to 4000 abralon.  That will help give you different looks at least.

I am always changing surfaces around for the oil pattern and look I want on the lanes.  I would actually probably drill the HyRoad with a similar(so it has the same characteristics), but weaker layout.
