Got one of these in today and really just tossing around how to drill it.  I would definitely say that I am a lower to medium rev guy who throws it around 17 mph.  My question lies in wether or not to try this ball pin up or down (5x5).  I would say that if I have an issue on most lanes it is getting the ball to read the midlane early enough which would make me think to drill it pin down.  I am just concerned that I may lose some of what this ball is designed to do which is to be clean and angular (other than knock all the pins down). Will the pin down drilling affect the angularity on the backend.  Wrong or right I always am afraid to try to make a ball do something it isn't designed to do.  Any suggestion or help?  Thx in advance.

My opinion: Buy the ball reaction you are looking for (based on a few factors) and drill it to provide what you need out of it. It will still be a skid/flip ball, but it will see the midlane better (which is exactly what you seem to be looking for.

Long comment short, drilling it pin down will not kill the intent. Sometimes a ball ends up overkill (especially on house) when people try to amplify the motion of a ball.

I just had my code black drilled. I have similar speed, more of a medium rev rate. My pin is 1" over and 1/4" down from my ring finger. Read the lanes nice. Had good mid and strong back. Its not a layout that cant be controlled. Im very happy with it.

I'm rev dominant with a little softer speed and I really like the pin down shape the slows the response but I honestly think this is such a good core/cover combo it will be good with your favorite layout whether it's pin up or down.

Appreciate your thoughts guys.  I just get so worried about negating the intended design for the ball with a drilling.  Like for me a pin down drilling on a ghost jackal seems scary because it could burn up as it is an early rolling ball.  Are these thoughts correct or am I over thinking it.  I know in a flood that might work but anywhere else the ball could be totally useless.   I guess ultimately it's just all a part of building an arsenal for league and or tournaments.  Either way thanks for your input guys.

Well stated, 2handed, it will not affect the characteristics at all and will definitely blend out the over/under on said conditions that it's designed for.
