I never understand why these things never come to Minnesota. There are huge numbers of bowlers up here. Honestly there is nothing else to do in the winter.

Good fishin' in Minnesota. Just cut a hole in the ice, grab a 8 inch rod from your back pocket and you're in business. Brrrrrr. It's April now. Has the ice melted yet?

It was HOT in Grand Forks. Im really getting tired of this 50 degree weather. I wish it would stay 35 if not 40.

On top of that, we got like 8 inches and it melted the next day lol.

Jason Guest of Bowler's Connection Pro Shop, will be hosting one at Bowlerama Lanes, in Des Moines, Iowa on April 22!

If you're in central Iowa, this is a great opportunity to see and try some of the latest balls from Storm and Roto-Grip!

Last year, they had all of the current and new Storm and Rotogrip available to try.  They had 15lb balls drilled up with generic spans and interchangeable thumb inserts, with several thumb and finger inserts available.  You could also try the different wrist supports, etc. they sell.  last year when looking for a ball for heavier oil, I was able to compare the Special Agent and SD-73 Classic by actually throwing them on the same lanes, for example.  Very cool.  And it was free to attend!  They did get some money, though, when I immediately thereafter bought and drilled up a Special Agent

al_g,

The open house at Bowlerama will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for pro-shop operators and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm for everybody.  Possibly will go longer if the turnout is good.  No charge.

Let's see, Texas gets 5.  Suburb of Chicago, IL gets 1.  Maryland gets 2.  Tennessee gets 2.  Oregon gets 2.  Something wrong with this picture?  Not one to complain, but not exactly convenient for me where they are having that one open house just west of Chicago & just east of the airport.  Tough location for us NW suburbanites.  I know, get the violins out & cry me a river, but I own a bunch of Storm bowling equipment & would like to attend one of these.

All you need to do is have your Pro-shop call their Storm rep if they are interested in hosting one of these events.

It's a lot of work for the pro-shop operator.

I hope it translates into a lot of sales for the shop that is hosting it here.

Guys, guys, guys......we dont pick the spots that we host Open Houses, the Pro Shop/Bowling Centers contact us.

Our Customer Service Reps will contact Pro-Shops in their territories, and then it is up to that individual Shop/Center to choose to host or not. If you would like to see one in your area, make sure you tell your local Pro Shop Operator and have him contact his local rep

So Jeff is it just a demo day, and if so do they run specials? Does it cost anything to attend the Open House?

This is the exact reason to host it. It generates traffic into your shop.

Anytime our shop has had one of these demo or open houses, we have had our best day of the month sales wise. Plus the goodwill it spreads to our most loyal customers is worth the amount of work involved.

I've hosted these a few times this year and in my area it generates alot of instant impulse purchases and probably about another 40% come in within the next month to make a purchase. These are sometimes hard to co-ordinate because you have to fit into the schedule of your regions rep and your bowling centres open play availabilty as well.

But they are well worth it.Doene really bends over backwards to help you out in shop sales and is always very supportive.

To Everyone,

An Open House event is a way for us to showcase new products, especially our bags.  At this time of year the bowlers are finishing up with leagues and some pro shops tend to slow down and change their hours in preperation for the summer.

The event is designed to allow pro shop operators to come by in the morning bringing all of the local shops to one place so we can have a mini trade show, if you will.  We offer specials to the pro shops and show off what we have coming soon.

The afternoon session is geared towards the bowlers.  We have on site staff that the bowlers can talk to and special discounts in the pro shop usually.  We try to have a storm or roto staffer on site as well throwing product down the lane demonstrating for the bowlers.  We usually have lots of equipment between our salesmen and staff member that we do allow the bowlers to try out.

FREE - FREE - FREE

Definitely worth showing up for a few hours.  Bring your gear with you and bowl with us.

The wife and I attended the Storm Open House in New Port Richey, FL today at Lane-Glo Lanes and had a great time.  Ralph Solan and Randy Pedersen were the reps that were there, we got to try out some of the balls, I was able to throw the Gravity, Cell, Pearl Street Rod, and the Rapid Fire.  There were others available but for me, I had no need to give them a toss.

They weren't really that busy so Ralph spent some time working with the wife and I while I was switching around to the different balls.  Randy also took the time to work with each of us on an individual basis, actually coaching.  Both the guys were very down to earth, all in all, about 1 hour with them and a great experience.

For me, the Gravity gave me the look I wanted and was so smooth into the pocket, nothing jerky at all, nice clean arc.  The pin was drilled into the ring finger, MB about halfway between thumb and VAL, figure about a 4 1/2 pin to PAP for me, a good time.

I was able to make the Open House at Bowlerama Lanes in Des Moines, IA on 4/22. Thanks to Jason Guest from Bowlers Connection Pro Shop and Chris Sand from Storm for setting this up. Jason also worked with the bowling center to set up various lanes with light, medium and heavy PBA like shots as well as a couple of versions of the house shot. That really let people put the balls to the test.

If anyone gets the chance to go to one I'd definitely recommend it. Being able to throw balls you're interested in before buying them is a great opportunity and throwing them on different patterns was a nice bonus.

I threw a Cell, Rapid Fire, T-Road solid and Shift and they had just about every ball available to throw, including the Street Rods. I went to find a medium condition solid ball to compliment my Agent and was thinking Rapid Fire or T-Road solid. After throwing both I was not impressed with the Rapid Fire, too skid-snap for me, especially on the tougher shots. The T-Road was a lot smoother for me. I was leaning towards the T-Road solid until I threw a Shift. I hadn't planned on throwing a Shift but it was just sitting on the ball return and no one was throwing it so I thought why not try it. The Shift was amazing. I had it matched up on all the shots except for the dry one and I can't get over how predictable it was and how well it rolled and carried. I'm now rethinking my arsenal because of that.

The Gravity & the Shift are my 2 favorite Storm balls right now.

It's great to see that Storm is taking the time with the bowlers to coach em on how to use their products.  I wish I had the time or convenience to get to an open house.  They always happen after the bowling season just when my seasonal business starts to get going.

The bowling alley that I bowl at doesn't really have a pro shop.  The guy there will drill a ball you bring to him or order one on line for you & then drill it.  But it's not a shop with stock or displays.  Would Storm consider an open house at a center like that? Or does it have to have a "real" pro shop?
