Storm Physix Blackout
« on: December 22, 2024, 04:09:55 PM »
Storm’s latest Signature line ball features a 2000 Grit NEX Pearl cover wrapped around the Atomic AI Core. I drilled my Physix Blackout 4 x 4.5 x 2 and have thrown it for a few times and I’m quite impressed by it. For a big asymmetric pearl ball it really reminded me of a solid. It was very smooth and didn’t over react when I threw it into the dry too quick. The NEX cover allows it to still handle some oil so I can see this being an overall great ball for a wide range of bowlers and conditions. House shots to sport shots this ball is going to be a must have in the bag because it could be the first ball out of your bag fro the fresh or it could be the second or third ball out of your bag once the lanes start to transition. Compared to my X-Cell the Blackout is smoother and about 4/5 less overall hook. The X-Cell actually created a ton more angle down lane and the Physix Blackout is probably 2/3 feet sooner than the X-Cell.

Review:
The PhysiX Blackout takes the well designed Atomic Core, adds in A.I. and wraps it with the NeX coverstock that was used on the Storm Axiom. The 2K Abralon finish adds the right touch for most league and tournament bowlers. For my review of the PhysiX Blackout I tested the ball on two fresh house shots at two different centers along with an Infinite PhysiX (15pd) which is also a sanded pearl reactive.

For me, the PhysiX Blackout did not require any surface adjustments on the two house patterns I tested it on. I was most impressed that the ball strength did not overtake my ball speed which is on the low side for a thumbless player. I did not throw the Physix Blackout through the breakpoint which on occasion I have tended to do with some pearl offerings.

I learned that the PhysiX Blackout if drilled strong for a player can tend to be a hook monster for some players. The balanced layout I chose makes the PhysiX Blackout a definite starter in the THS bag. I tend to like balls that have that traction type look and this ball provides that for me.

The entry angle I have been able to create with the PhysiX Blackout has been a definite plus and provides me some room to keep moving inside and not lose pin carry. The Infinite PhysiX for me did the same during its time period. I'm really excited to see how the PhysiX Blackout performs over time and on an array of sport patterns too.

Be sure to start off the new year with your PhysiX Blackout. I have a feeling you will not be disappointed in a ball that gets the job done. Review
The Physix Blackout is the newest addition to Storm’s premier line. This Physix Blackout has the Atomic A.I. Core with the NEX pearl reactive cover stock. The Blackout has a slightly lower RG 0.47 and higher Differential 0.055 than the infinite physix. This gives the Blackout an earlier midlane reaction with a bigger backend. Plus the 2000 grit pearl cover and along with the AI enhanced core allows the Physix Blackout ball reaction to be more consistent and reliable. As mid to low rev player l am able to play to the right of the track area on heavy oil patterns and stand left of center on the typical house pattern. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments.  Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.
