Gravity vs Hyroad
« on: January 06, 2009, 02:10:39 AM »
I was watching the videos on Storms website about the Hyroad and one of the guys said it was more angular than the Gravity. I was looking to get one or the other. I really want something to complement my Shift when the lanes dry out a little and so I don't have to give the pocket away so much. You can check out my profile for my stats. So I guess what I am asking is which one or something else would be good to get so I could have a ball that is a little more controlled on the backend?

I have both balls and I find the Gravity Shift is more angular than the HyRoad.  Both of them hit like a tank but I think for my style (stroker, med. speed and low rev rate) the HyRoad is a better match.  I think if you have higher speed & med to high rev rate, the Gravity may suit you better.  I like em both.

HY-Road is not a ball you would want for when the lanes dry out.  It is however a magnificent ball

You're right about that Spider Ball on dry lanes the HyRoad & the Gravity will go to the left side of the highway.  Better to stay with something like the Tropical or rotogrip Neptune on those conditions.

The Hy-Road and the Gravity really complement each other well.  They both are fairly angular but neither are really dry lane balls.  If you are looking for a step-down from the Shift leaving you good angle on a broken down shot I'd look at the Street Rod Pearl.  It is NOT as angular as the Hy-Road, but on a broken down shot after using a Shift I think you will be happy.  A Street Rod Pearl will let you use the part of the lane that is no longer available to you with the Shift.

I have my Hy-Road drilled 6x4 and left at box.  This ball clears the heads beautifly and makes a smooth move to the pocket.  I have slow speed and mid-high revs (15mph 350rpm) and I am able to play outside in the dry with this ball.  Very nice peice.  I think if drilled weak, its a great dry lane ball.  Im excited to throw it on the Cheetah.

Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"
