Storm shoes, how are people liking them?
« on: November 22, 2012, 09:37:43 PM »
Since my 3G's are no longer registered with the PBA, I now need to find some approved shoes, trying to decide between Etonic's, or the new Storm shoes, as I haven't been happy with Dexter's in the past.  Hope someone can provide some insights, if they've used them, and let me know how they're working for you.  Thanks for the help.

I believe they are Dexter bottoms with Storm designed uppers....so they should be comparable to certain Dexter styles.  All made by Dexter....

Interesting, thank you, I'll take that into my decision making process, getting all the input I can before I buy, all I've used for the last several years were the 3G's.

Speaking of 3G shoes, what do you think of them as far as durability and comfort? Did they fit more like a sneaker or more like dress loafers? I've been in the market for new shoes since my Linds are now falling apart and 3G, and Etonic Tour Ultra's have been on my watch list.

Storm shoes appear to be pretty good as far as the cheaper ones I have sold go.

For performance shoes, the 3-G tour ultras are hard to beat...very comfortable, almost no break in time and very durable. I am a fairly avid bowler (2-3x a week) and the push sole on my tour ultras have finally developed a flat spot on the ball of the foot.

So far the Etonic Pro Tours I have sold are holding up well for the owners.

Thanks Doug, I am sort of leaning toward the Etonic's, just from brand name, and knowing they've been in the shoe game for a while, but also going to get some feedback from a local shop owner I trust as well.

I have the Storm SP2-900 black shoes. I love them. They have a slight dress shoe feel but are lighter than the Dexter SST-8's that I had. They a sort of sporty look like the Etonics do.

I have noticed the spot on my push off sole is not as prominent as the Dexters. I was on my 3rd replacement push off sole on the SST-8's.

I used to wear such a hole on my push off foot in previous Dexters, I just stayed cheaper price wise in the SST-5's. I figured that I was just going to wear them down to the sole, I might as well have less $$ tied up in them.

I wear the Etonic Tour Masters and really like them.  I find them a good bit lighter than the SST-8s were and more flexible once broken in.  I like the SST-8s too, just find the Tour Masters to be a little more "sporty".

Probably not the ones you are looking to buy, but so far I like Lightning series shoes I have had for about a month now.  The quality is top notch and not showing any signs of wear at this point.  More of an athletic shoe feel compared to the Linds New Era shoes I had previously, a little stiffer but not noticeable when wearing.

I had the SST 8's and they were the worst shoe ever in my opinion. Very stiff and rigid and just took too much to break them in. When the Storm shoes became available to staff members I completely took advantage of this, hoping that anything would be better than the SST 8's. I got the SP2 900 black ones and they are the most comfortable shoes since the 5 comforts that dexter put out a few years ago. No break in time and the soles are pretty nice with the combinations that they provide. The front bumper on both shoes really helps me out due to the amount of drag I have on the fronts of my shoes.

I got the new storm shoes with all the interchangeable soles/heels and must say I have no complaints so far. Only thing I had to get used to was the higher shoe height as they felt like I was higher then my 3G dynaroos were.
