Storm Son!Q (Layout 65 x 5 x 40)
Low RG 2.47 – Medium Differential 0.045 (16#)
Centripital HD Core
R2S Pearl Reactive Coverstock

The Storm Son!Q is a special ball; one that everyone should have in their bag.  Here’s why this ball is so special.  The low RG of this ball lets the ball rev up earlier than most, paired with a medium differential that doesn’t make it hook uncontrollably.  The coverstock really tames that low RG from taking off from the friction spot, but still has enough energy to carry the rack from anywhere.  This ball reaction is like no other so be sure to give it a shot!

Personal Experience:
I have thrown this ball in a league 4 out of the 5 weeks that I have had the ball, and each week I have beaten my league average by 15-30 pins per game, not to mention a 299.  I have also thrown this ball in tournaments on medium length patterns with medium-high volume and it continues to prove why it is the best ball on the market.  This ball will enhance your game, like it did mine!

2 Honor Scores since 2/9/2018 – 299, 300

When I was a pro shop staffer I only received a discount price on the balls.  When I tried a ball and it didn't work well, I didn't review it.  I disagree that every company make some "turds".  Personally, I have always believed that every ball is a "turd" for some and the "greatest ball ever" for somebody else.  The real trick is to find the right ball, right drill, and the right conditions.

I agree with you completely about "turds" and "greatest ball ever". Everything made matches up for someone and no one matches up with everything. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a need for more than one ball, right?

Pearl covers are specifically designed to maximize backend reaction, not smooth it out, so it would be the super low RG of the core helping the ball to read earlier and blend out that transition a bit better.  .047 isn't far from being medium, but anything over .045 is pretty high, once you gain separation of the flare rings, that's really all that's needed.

Hmm . . propaganda propaganda . . .047 is a medium diff??  Ok . . the pearl cover tames the low RG down and keeps it from jumping off the friction spot . . um, probably the other way around but sure . . now it DOES carry off hits well, I'll buy that.  Different look for a Storm ball too actually, maybe not like no other . .

Figjam, figjam, figjam, propaganda, propaganda, figjam.  Yup, he's a staffer!!

You don't think it's the coverstock that tames the ball reaction?  You think it's the core?  In your opinion what would you consider a 0.045 or 0.047 differential..?

My Opinion:
Low Diff up to 0.035
Med Diff 0.035 to 0.049
High Diff 0.049 to 0.060

It's still the same.  Of course it's kind of akin to saying your job sends you a "free" paycheck, all you have to do is show up and work for it.  All I know is that all my "free" equipment I'm getting costs me a hell of a lot more now than it did before I signed a contract . . if you applied for a full time job and they said they'd trade you 2 bowling balls a month for your 40 hours a week, how's the math work out on that??

The review itself was decent,  but you don't have to say its a must have.

He's a staffer he's gets every release anyways doesn't he?
Storm did use a credit system for the local staffers. Not sure if they still do. So not every ball is free to the staffer. If you do all of these review sites plus a video, then the ball will be "free" as you would earn enough credits to cover the ball with a few credits to spare.

Sounds like Being a staffer is a lot like being a member of a fitness gym. You pay to go and lift weights that otherwise you could get payed to load boxcars with 100# sacks.

Pretty much . . there are perks, don't get me wrong, but if I just went and got a part time job at 20 hours a week, I could afford to buy whatever the hell I wanted at full retail and still come out ahead both ways.  At least with this I'm my own boss though, and that's hard to put a price on, plus the hours are flexible, and then of course being bowling famous is kinda fun, but strictly going by the numbers, it's a super perks heavy system.  It relies completely on you highly valuing all the intangibles.

Haters gonna hate, staffers gonna staff.

There are a FEW here whose opinions I have found I can trust and value.

There are MANY here who only get a glance, no trust, and little attention payed to them.

The ones who give intelligent and insightful information are highly valued.

The rest I call “snowstorm reviewers” because you never know how long they’ll be around, or how deep the shits gonna get before they’re through.

If you put ANY of the stupid cliches in your review (i.e. “must have”), I disregard you.

 Instantly.

I used to review a few balls, but not anymore. I just don’t have the ability, or equipment, to gather enough information anymore to do an adequate review.

90% or more who do reviews are in the same boat, and just shouldn’t be doing them.

Most of them are staffers.  ::) #lemmingstaffers

It really drives me crazy when middle-aged/baby boomer white men use the term “haters” or “hating” when you have no clue what a hater or hating is.

Finally learned the lesson I need to not review a ball for at least a few months after buying it.  Had to go back in disgust and openly admit some my reviews sucked after finding the ball doesn't match up over some time.  I never have any financial vested interest but easy to have vested emotional interest if don't wait to review.  Hard to do when have newballitis.  Does gets easier to be more objective once have a decent sized arsenal though.

This 56 Year old thinks "Haters" means:

Having Attitude Towards Everyone Reaching Success! Right?!?!?

Is that correct?

Do I win anything???

One of my good friends is a pro shop operator and former senior PBA player.  For years he use to drill  out a new ball and tell me, "this is the hardest hitting ball I have ever had".  He meant it, but it applied to hook monsters that invariably tamed down substantially after 20-30 games.

I dont review balls very often on here, but here are a couple of examples of what I am talking about.  Three strong solid ball I have had going back 10-12 years come to mind.  Ebonite Infinite One was a monster for me out of the box.  I shot a couple of 800's in the first month I had it.  After it tamed down, it was just another okay ball.  Roto Grip Cell was incredible, for about 30 games.  Not so much after that. Roto Grip Theory was aother one. I won a major local tournament with it the first month I had it.  After about 3 more tournaments I realized that my carry was terrible.  On the other end of the scale, the Phase ll was great out of the box, but seemed to have a different roll than my other hook monsters.  It tamed down too, but it still matched up a lot,  and remained a very good ball for me.  Then there were the balls that were great for me like the Virtual Gravity and Lucid.  I didnt like either one out of the box, but when they lane polished, they became go to balls that I won tournaments with.   Some pearls even tame down, although Marvel Pearl was great for me out of the box, and stayed that way.  The thing is I understood what I was buying, and it matched my expectations.

Not one ball i mentioned above would I call a must have ball, although several were for me.  I read reviews, but only after looking at the ball specs, and what the manufacturer says about it to see if it is something I might need. Then I look for a review that talks about the shape and characteristics.  I usually stop reading when someone talks about the scores they shot with the ball.
