Storm Spectre

Looks like this is going to be the new line that takes the place of the Axioms.  It has a medium/high RG and high differential with the R3S coverstock.  After watching this video; it looks like Storm's version of the Wolverine.  I know the Phaze 4 is going to have the R2S but I would really like to see a side by side comparison between the P4 and Spectre.

Ok all....I was shocked with this ball! I had it drilled just like my 900 Global Wolverine. Just because I knew the Wolverine would have more back end (which it does) This one...I did NOT alter the surface of this ball. I thought throw the Spectre when or if the oil carries down I can switch to the Wolverine. My 1st night, I took it to league just to throw it for the 1st time during practice. Just to see how it rolls for me. IT NEVER LEFT MY HAND! 1st game 279 (with a 10pin) Series 770. Right out of the box. During practice, it rolled SO GOOD, I never wanted to put it away. It smells GREAT as well LOL!! But man this balls rolls so well. It does not over react on the back ends which is great! I'm going to love this ball indeed!

The Storm Spectre is the latest release to the Thunder Line. It has been quite some time since we have had a new release to this line and it is rare that we get to see this cover stock. With an all new core the ball currently in my bag that I would compare this to is the OG HyRoad. It is a tad earlier and smoother than the HyRoad but is still what I would consider a “House Shot Killer” not over reacting when you get it to the friction but not under reacting when tugged inside in the oil. My first few shots in practice had me skeptical of the reaction but after some oil accumulated the cover stock really settled in and I found it hard to miss the pocket. Coming out of the gate with a 724 series I was extremely happy. I currently have it paired up with my Trend 2 for league nights and they are quite the compliment to each other.

Review

The Spectre is the newest ball in Storm’s Thunder line. For me the Spectre fits in between the Hyroad and Trend series. The R3S Pearl Coverstock paired with Vector Core gives the Spectre a clean look through the front of the lane, allowing the ball to save energy on the backend for continuous striking action. I tested this ball on a 42 feet typical house pattern. As mid to low rev player l was able to stand left of center without losing any carrying power.  This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments.  Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.

The Thunder Line from Storm has a long history of successful balls and the new Spectre is going to be another one of those successful balls. The Vector core was designed to fill the gap between the Hy Road and Trend series of balls and comes with an RG of 2.54 and Differential of 0.050 and has the R3S Pearl cover. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and actually took a 2000 pad lightly to this ball just to get this ball a little sooner reaction. Compared to the recently released 900 Global Wolverine which has similar numbers to the Spectre, the Spectre is a board or two stronger and much more forward off the end of the pattern compared Wolverine. The motion the Spectre gives is second to none and there isn’t a ball on the current market that duplicates it. This is going to be a super popular ball for any bowler who is looking for a little more backend motion !
