Ball for my sister???
« on: December 18, 2007, 10:27:33 AM »
Hello...my sister just won a raffle and is given any storm ball of her choice.  She is a stroker type bowler with low revs and speed.  We are looking for a good benchmark ball that will perform well on a THS.  First instinct (being it is free), is to go buy the most expensive Storm ball out right now, but we both know that is not the awnser.  Please help!!  Thanks.

My vote is for the Shift.  It's a r2s pearl particle ball that she won't have to overwork it to get it to rev or hook.  I can use mine on all lane conditions & various lines to the pocket.  I've watched PDW throw it from the left to right, Liz Johnson up & in & Mike Scroggins some where between that even though he's a lefty.  But I am not recommending it because these pros have thrown it.  I'm going off my own experience.  Research it.  Storm has videos, Buddies & you can find it on YouTube by searching Shift & then scrolling down the list.  My opinion is that it's a very under rated ball & it's my "ole reliable".

my personal opinion would be to go with a med. range ball something link a t road pearl or solid or perhaps a sure fire the hybrid coverstock works really well at getting threw the carry down.

There's alot of great storm balls available right now for most lane conditions. If she's a low rev low speed stoker then she needs something that gets thru the heads easily and have a fairly strong reaction in the back. Here are some options: Domination, t road pearl, or agent. I bowled with all these balls and they are all great balls. Good luck.

I second the agent, one of the most versatile balls in the storm line up.

Hmm I am not sure about this but I feel the need to chime in.  Me and my girlfriend have been trying for a while to find a ball that actually works for her...  Her speed is pretty slow and she doesn't get many revs on the ball.

Anyway, we finally found one that worked and it works like crazy.  We ended up with the T-Road Pearl with a drilling for length.  Now whereas the other balls she used wanted to hook early and poop out, this thing works so much better to the tune of like 30 pins over her average last year.  Hey it's amazing what will happen when you have the right ball and can just worry about throwing it.  If I think of her using my Secret Agent I have to think that would be a disaster on a house shot.

That's just my take though, our lane conditions may not be the same as yours and who knows if your definition of slow speed and low rev is the same as mine.  I am just saying be careful and if you can have the pro shop person watch her throw to give them an idea that may be really beneficial.
