Storm Street Rod Solid
« on: May 04, 2008, 11:19:23 AM »
I picked up my Street Rod solid and got a chance to throw it.  It hits really well and tends to carry too.  I have some video of me throwing it.

P.S...My knee bend is finally improving!

I love this ball so far, but haven't thrown enough games to review it.

Thanks!!!

One thing to really focus on while improving your game is keeping your shoulders in line with your knee. When you release the ball, your shoulders are way past your knees. If you make a video from the side of you bowling, and pause it at your release, and draw a line from your knee straight up, you dont want your shoulders to go any past that, but actually right on that line. It will also help your balance. Seems to me that you are kind of on your tippy toes at release, which is caused by your shoulders so far forward, and this is why you keep falling over to the side.

As one local coach teaches sit on the shot, feel like you are sitting on the slide step. With my bad knee I cannot do this but my ex-wife starting doing this and went up 25 pins a game alone from the sitting method.

If I didn't know any better, I would swear that is Holiday Lanes on E. Broad St here in Columbus in your videos. I was just out there Saturday for a tournament.

That place used to be one of my favorite places to bowl when I lived on the East side of Columbus eons ago.

Definitely looks like a bowler on the way .  Hope you like your Street Rod as much as I like mine.  Can't wait to get it on Cheetah this weekend, and see if it does as well on that, as the other houses I've used it in.

Joe,

I just watched one match that cut to the top 5. Bill Hoffman, Mark Siders, Jeff Miller, Gary Schluchter, and another was left. It was the USBC Masters shot. I was +2 and had 1 open frame in 4 games. I missed a 2-8-10 in the 3rd frame of the first game and was clean the remaining 3 1/2 games and was +26 in the process.

All of my stuff kept missing the midlane. I think I need to invest in a Cell or two. My Attitude Shift w/2000 skated too far to carry until game 3 and then in game 4 it started to burn too early and pinged. My Secret was early and then quit.

Not usually. It picks up pretty nice. I think some of my own undoing was ball speed. I was in "lock and load" mode right out of the gate. I even tried to stand closer up on the approach to slow down my tempo and was still piping it pretty good.

I have really like my Secret on house conditions as it picks up real strong on wet/drys in the dry part of the lane.

I should be getting my Street Rod's any day now and am going to try one of the solids pin down, hole down for an experiment. I like the early midlane read of some of the Brunswick stuff like the Wizard and Classic Zone, maybe this will give me the same look so my speed won't kill me on slicker shots or Pro Anvilhang.

I also loved mine as well. I used it for the Masters and Queens here in Indiana and shot fairly well with -17 for 6 games.. Very strong read and very strong move to the pocket. Drilled it fresh right before the tournament, and it rolled like money. .

I will have a picture up later as well.
