Storm Wish List?
« on: August 14, 2017, 01:06:02 PM »
Premier Line: Get rid of Rad-X core.  The Locks and I haven't gotten along.  Big thing with them is they're fun to throw, but too jerky on friction and ultimately there are better options.  Move in, too high, move in, too high, move in, then all the sudden you get roll out or it won't come up the hill.  Codes are great, especially the Red, but covers are a bit too weak when you get on heavier volumes.

Wish: Prodigy/Solid Code.  Prodigy is one of my favorites of all time, that and the Shock Trauma may be my favorite upper line balls Storm has made.  X-Factor was great, but the Codes and actually Marvel Pearl are similar enough to scratch that itch.  Solid Code would be a can't miss as well.

Signature Line: Don't care, not interested.  Maybe a Pete Weber ball because I seem to favor a lot of the reactions he does, but this is an entirely niche line and they've shown they will mix it up elsewhere.  This more or less seems like a line for Victor Marion to flex his creative muscle without it taking the place of a regular release in other lines and seems like a line fit for balls like the Fight.

Wish: Please don't desecrate R2S Hybrid again.

Master Line:  Virtually empty, and the Marvel Pearl doesn't really count.  IQ Tour is showing its age and the Phaze 2 cover is super high maintenance.

Wish: Hybrid Phaze.  Can't tell you how much I want the Phaze/G.  Don't think we'll see a hybrid though, with the Code Red being hybrid and a rumored hybrid Torrent, don't think they want that many hybrids out all at the same time.  However, that line is really due for one, haven't seen one since the Tour Fusion.

Thunder Line:  Has too much stuff in it, something has to go, but how do you discontinue anything there?  I don't like urethane, but Pitch Black and Blue are great urethane balls.  Hyroad is the GOAT, and Hyroad Pearl isn't far behind although it's starting to show its age a bit, the new Match Ups are both stronger.

Wish: Somebody said a hybrid Torrent is on the approved list and I really hope that's true.  Everything coming out of the Thunder line for the last several years has been probably the best stuff Storm is making, so hybrid or pearl Torrent sounds great.

Hot Line: Match Ups are great balls but wow they hook a lot.

Wish: BRING THE RIDE BACK.  Best true light oil ball EVER.

Tropical Line: Tropicals now are better, but still too over/under.  Too strong on friction, too weak in oil.  Niche/entry level reactions, hard to consider as a real option.

What do you want?  I'd be fine if they just did what they do overseas, refresh the marketing every once and a while.  Hey, it's the Hyroad Pearl, but it's a different color, smell, and it's the Hyroad 300 now.  I'm cool with that.

I know its Roto Grip, but Storm owns them;)  I would love to see the RSP re-released. Best Ball I have ever thrown by any company. Low RG High, Diff and hit hard. Had to polish to Keep from stone 9, But polished this ball was a Beast. Shot 300,800 and 299 over the course of several months with this Gem. Kicking myself for not buying a Case ;)

I would totally understand if it didn't work, but have you tried a Marvel Pearl?

2handedrook12,

I just got a Marvel Pear drilled up and yes it is very good!!! But not quite as strong as the RSP,  but may just be the 2nd best Ball I have thrown behind the RSP :)

Thank you

Makes sense. I've never thrown an RSP, but a ball like that would sure fir well in the Utah family. I thought the Phaze was going to do that first, but we all know how that went (even though the second batch was a ton better than the ones that looked faded.

>Hyroad is the GOAT

Yep finally got this Hammer head to make one exception for Storm in the arsenal.  Is it true production of the Hy-road original is winding down?  My PSO had to special order it.  At least will be able to buy that ball NIB on ebay for a decade to come.

I have not heard that production is ending, and you have to remember that with the new Roto balls (4) plus the newer Storm stuff, I am sure they ramped up production on those products while the other items are waiting to go back inline for another pour.

Considering the Roto Hot Cell was pushed a month into September, shows me right there they are behind on production of the new stuff, let alone stuff that has been around.

Make sense.  Good problem for them to have I suppose. Thanks.

The thing I like the most about the weak R2s pearl and hybrid is you give these balls a little surface and they perform especially hyroad pearl, tour fusion, and tour 30

Tropical Breeze Solid. Released it in 2011, long discontinued. I found one NIB quickly on eBay but never saw another one come up. Don't understand why they keep releasing balls  in that line, mostly Pearl, occasionally a hybrid but never a solid. Right now the line is called Tropical, four pearls, two hybrids, no solids. Right now I am throwing Motiv but would buy a Tropical Solid in a heartbeat if it were available

Have you tried a Tropical Hybrid? Haven't thrown one before, but Charlest says it's very close to his solid one.

I would like to see the NOS core again.  Preferably with the R2S Hybrid again.  I liked the Frantic more than the HyRoad - by a wide margin.

I felt the same way with the Inverted fe3. I loved my Crossroad and didnt like the HyRoad Pearl i had or my buddies HyRoad that I've thrown.
