Storm X-Factor Vertigo - Did anyone have this ball?
« on: June 23, 2006, 07:45:01 AM »
Hey BR Family,

Did any of you have this ball that was released earlier last year?

I just acquired one in super shape (Pin over ring finger and MB 1 inch right of thumb). This would be a 4 3/4 x 5 MB pattern for me. I'm a Power-Tweener with 15.5 mph at the pin deck (Quibica Scorers).

Did any of you like or dislike this ball?
What did this ball do for you, your style and your game?
What conditions did it match-up on and was the coverstock tweakable with favorable results?

Thanks!

well my best friend has it and it has done alot, he has to keep it in the middle on our typical league shot or else it will burn up outside (in OOB condition) but it is very even and carries well, its not the biggest hooker but that is because he hasn't really found enough oil for it yet.

I like it a lot. It gives me a nice sharp backend compared to my The One's hard arc. It's one of my favorite balls, just got to maintain it otherwise I've heard they won't last too long.

I like mine; and still use it alot!  When the lanes are in a more medium condition I will use it and open up the lane with out going overboard.  It is drilled the hook and yet be tame.

I have one that I just picked up a couple of months ago.  It's sweet spot IMO is shorter (35ft), heavier oil patterns.  For a dull ball it has a reasonable amount of snap on the backends, but it doesn't normally overreact.  If I could invent a ball reaction description it would be smooth-snap.  Not exactly an arc but clearly not a skid/snap ball either.

Right now I have been using it along with my Agent as a 1-2 combination for shorter oil.  When the oil is just laid down I use the Vertigo swinging it from about 16 to 12; but when the pattern starts to break down I move in and swing the Agent MUCH more from about 23 to 15.

great ball.

In the genre of the Strike Zone, Total Annhilation and this Vertigo.

All are assymetric versions using their companies version of the non particle particles that Brunswick led off with with the great Ultimate Inferno.  Activator solid or what ever each company calls it!

These types of coverstocks make the ball handle heavy to medium heavy oil ...easily and then further more they handle even better than particles long thin patterns that proprietors figured out could beat the particles.

Because they are assymetric dramatic differences can be created thru drilling to break point shape.

In our house we have a guy who likes to demo all the new storm balls.  He got on a tear with his Vertigo where he could barely shoot under 240!  Then he demo'd another ball and dropped precipitously and never went back.  It took for the agent to come out before he was HOT again!  Another guy(lefty in a tough lefty center) skied when he got his Vertigo and went the first 7 in the house for a lefty and then went 7, 7 7 7 7 for quite a while.  One week it was dry and he got off it!  He never got back in the groove again.

Great ball! As is the Strike Zone and TA.  I don't know how durable but my TA is still readin hard and snapping.
