Just saw a guy really throwing this thingvery nicely.

To me it looked polished but he said no 800 grit dull.

Description says 800 grit satin.  What is the difference between 800 matte and satin?  How is satin created?  My eyes tell me half polished in a way but how does one do it?

PS just a touch earlier than his Triple X which he uses quite well at this center!

Bob. you could be right. However I tried a sample of Step 1 and burned it into the ball and it shined up like about 1500 grit or so. I checked with Storm and "if" I understood them right, they said the finish will be higher than 800 if you really burn it into the ball.

OK LuckyLefty and everyone else, I just received a reply back from Storm and here is their answer:

"the 800 Satin is a surface that is produced here at the factory..... the 800 Matte is one that is produced with a grey Scotch-Brite pad..... So you can prepare and reproduce the 800 Matte with a grey Scotch Brite, but the 800 Satin, which is a bit shinier or smoother, is done here and cannot be done with a regular ball spinner at home..... The 800 Satin can more closely be reproduced with the Step 1 Storm Xtras Compound..."
