Sure Fire thoughts

Well just drilled up mine tonight at 4" pin to pap and 2.5" mb to pap this ball is strong but very controllable.

It reads the lane very well and makes a very nice transition in the midlane.  It has a smooth strong turn in the back but doesn't over react.  It isn't the hardest turning ball but is exactly what I wanted.

It is true that you can play very different angles on the lane of course with different releases.  The only line I didn't have alot of confidence in was trying to swing it more than 15 boards from deeper inside out past the track which I commonly did with most of my other stuff but I can play a tight inside line, swing the track, or play up the outside which was what I was looking for.

But if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions about maybe another surface to try or drilling to try I may think about getting another one of these and drilling it with another pattern.

Had mine drilled 5" from my PAP, pin above fingers, CG close to grip center, no hole.  OOB coverstock.

Mine is very strong and smooth.  It's a nice step down from my Special Agent which is drilled similar.

This ball has the most readable reaction of any ball I have ever used.  It's the first ball out of my bag now.

Mine should be here by Friday. Since I don't have a lot of revs I'll need to drill it a little stronger and with a RG average of 2.63( 14 #) I'll also need a little help to get it to roll a little earlier.

From what I've learned on this site I think It'll be pin 4 in. from PAP; next to ring finger. Does this sound right( for medium to medium heavy)?

I plan to leave the surface "factory" but after 10 games or more it'll prob. become 2000, more or less.

You don't want all your equipment to do the same thing.  If you can swing your other equipment from the deep inside, that's great.  I agree with JMORRIS, The Sure Fire reads the pattern nicely.  It's a great ball to start practice with, it gives you a read on the pattern. It reminds me of the Tour Power that way.

  If the Sure Fire you drilled does what you were looking for, then you could experiment with another one.  I just don't think it's a ball to swing more then 15 boards from the inside.

I threw it the first time today on light medium: not good!

I planned to use it on medium to medium heavy so I had it drilled strong: pin next to ring finger. At factory finish it is "weaker" than the Blue Vibe with weak drilling( pin above fingers) at about 1500.

Overall the Blue Vibe out hooks it by about 2-3 boards. On top of that, the power and carry were "not good". When the Blue Vibe hit the pins it sounded "much" louder.

Hopefully it'll get better with a ball track or surface change but at this moment it looks like I should have bought another Blue Vibe and set it up strong; better results and less money.......

I agree about it burning up.  It's not a medium/light oil ball in my opinion.  Part solid, part pearl, and then throw on a pretty strong drill...  I wouldn't even call my Spit Fire a medium-light oil ball, and it's the pearl cover on the same core as the Sure Fire.

I've seen the Sure Fire swung from 3rd arrow to the gutter on a medium oil shot and hit very well -- it's stronger than you might think.

I sure hope you guys are right. Of course I'll try it more before I'll make any surface adjustments.

I can always tell if my Blue Vibe is burning up. But if the the Sure Fire was burning up it did "not" act the same way. I think the drilling for earlier roll may have something to do with it. By the way, the core in the Vibe is actually "stronger" than the Sure Fire in the 14 pounders.

Will report after league on Tuesday night. Usually they are medium to medium heavy.

You guys were right: it was burning up( a little). Tried it on heavy and medium and found it's definitely not for heavy( which I intended to use it on) unless you adjust the surface to less than 1000 grit AND slow down.

For medium it worked pretty good! At about the same grit it's a little stronger than the Blue Vibe overall. Carry was a little better but the Blue Vibe "seemed" to hit a little harder. That may be because of the difference in drilling.

At least it's alive and well! I'll try it at 600 and add a flare increasing hole. Should have gotten a T-Road Solid, lol!
