looking at a replacement
« on: May 21, 2017, 06:15:16 PM »
Have had my lock for awhile and it's pretty much dead now so looking at what would replace it right now my lock fits between my no rules and code black it picks up in the Midlane more then my code black but turns the corner harder than my no rules so I was looking at the phaze 2 anyone know if that would fit what I'm looking for if not what would

I think the Phaze II would fit the description, but different from the Lock. Have you tried getting your Lock detox and/or resurfaced?

You might look at an Alpha Crux with a long pin.  Way stronger than the Code Black, but more angular than No Rules.  You might also look at the no rules Pearl.  Again, stronger than Code Black, but more angular than the solid.  All of the solids, including the Not Rules are going to tame down a lot with games on them.  I also currently have a Phase 11.  Very strong out of the box, but even as it tames down I like the roll pattern.    That is why I always look for solids that give me a roll I like more than how much they move.  I didn't really care for the Lock.  At the time I had a Paradox that I liked better on house shots.

I'd personally wait for the No Rules Exist or go outside of Storm/Roto to the Hammer Gauntlet, Track Mako, or Ebonite Maverick

A No Rules Pearl or Snap Lock with surface on it would fit pretty well. Probably want to do 500/2000 to start out with and go higher or lower from there.

But waiting for the Code Red might be your best bet. I think it's going to come polished so you might want to add surface to it so there isn't as much overlap with the Code Black.

Outside of the Storm family SVstar34 covered the EBI options pretty well. For the Brunswick family:

Mastermind Strategy
True Nirvana (w/ surface)
Ultimate Nirvana

Grudge Hybrid
Grudge Pearl (w/surface)

The Fix
Guru Limited (w/ surface)
Xeno

Inception DCT. I have a feeling this ball is going to be huge.

As a replacement, I would go with the No Rules Pearl with surface if you want to now or the Code Red. As suggested, surface is your friend here. I think the Inception DCT will be a great ball, but seems like it will compete with the Sure Lock rather than slot under a No Rules.

yeah it does seem like that dct will be pretty aggressive but I was also looking at the original inception and the original truth

I think the original Inception is closest reaction wise to the Lock. At least in my eyes they both looked really similar in terms of cover strength and overall reaction

Just get another lock?  If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it....go with what you like...just my thought
