pin down layout on shift
« on: July 24, 2007, 10:02:54 AM »
Has anyone used a pin below the bridge layout on the shift? looking to drill one with the pin down and MB at around 45* (about 2 1/2" from thumb)
How did this ball react with this type of drill? I have drilled one with the pin above the bridge and MB at 75* (right beside thumb) and while it works well I would like to hear if anyone has tried the other?

Cheers

It will be a whole lot more rollier, which is something you already will have with a particle pearl cover. What condition are you trying to hit with this pattern?

it's a tournament ball, used on 22-25mls oil usually around 40ft in length. it's not for me but for a girl i coach. She has about 200-225rpm and plays very much down the 10 board. looking for something a bit earlier and stronger so she can move in a little bit when the track area breaks down.

So I'm taking it no one has used a pin down layout on this ball?

I would really like any opinions on this, I am aware of what the layout will do, I would just like to hear if anyone has tried this with this ball and had problems.

Thanks again

A friend of mine has a Shift with the pin pretty much under the middle. It's his favorite ball and he has no problems at all with it. It's very predictable and it's a ball he can open the lane up with. I doubt the girl you coach would have any problems with it. I've thrown my friend's Shift which obviously wasn't drilled for me, and I really liked it. Plus, I'm also a stroker, about 250-275 RPM.

Shift is versatlie. Needs head oil.
When the backends are clean this ball has a ton of hook. ON carry down the ball
is more mellow.

I have a pin down 60 degree layout ball pin is 4 1/2 pin to pap, never measured the mb exactly. Ball clears the heads well and hooks aton in the mid's and backend   on medium oiled shot, one house that is a top hat i use it the ball will backend more than anything else i throw and the other hose that a blended 40 foot pattern the ball will still the heads and backend much more evenly.

It has become a great ball after going to 1000 and then beans secret sauce with a pretty high gloss finish. OOB it was an erractic POS that i was going to sell on here but now it is worth keeping.

Great, thanks everyone for your replies.

I drilled this ball up on the weekend and it works great for her, much stronger midlane and still quite aggressive on the backend. Over all this was a good move I feel, as the ball has allowed her to move much deeper into the middle of the lane and still get recovery.

I had one drilled PIN under ring and MB right 1 1/2" ball was not as strong as the Special Agent. Coverstock is awsome. The SHIFT reacted the same as my Uranium Solid,PIN above ring finger, if that makes since to you! handmeDn
