Some info on storm covers
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:16:13 PM »
I'm about to drill a 13lbs. Thunderstruck for a lady with slow speed.
What do you think about the reactor cover would be among todays storm covers?
If polished enough, would it be still too aggressive for a player with slow speed?

The original Reactor cover is, IMHO one of the best ever in the industry.  It is very versatile.  To answer your question, no it shouldn't be too aggressive on the right lane conditions.  As long as she doesn't try to throw it on dry conditions she should be fine.

If you go up in grit step by step this cover should be fine. Then put a shine over the 4000a to make the reaction nice and mild.

I would think you could make it work at box w/polish.  But a lot of that depends on the conditions she's bowling on, her revs & lay out she wants...  All balls in the Storm line are very surface adjustment friendly.  What ball/coverstock is she currently tossing?

Well she's got all her previous balls stolen along with her car.
Now we're trying to set up a four ball arsenal. A spare ball and a Tornado is done,(basic label layout about 4" PIn) and the next step would be the thunderstruck because of the cheap price.
I hope it will work fine with polish and if I don't go with too much flare. It should be for medium conditions, something to handle heavier volumes. If there should be problems with longer or even heavier volumes, I was thinking to compliment it with a Furious maybe.
As I said, she throwing slow with not a lot of revs, and she is closer to 60 now, so probably that will not change in a positive way I think

Well, then I'd say for sure it would work.

Have her throw it at box 1st then & see what it does...  That's what my driller had me do anyway... with my Reign.  I threw my Shift 1st & told him what I wanted my Reign to do.  We went pin up an inch above ring & just a bit right.  Watched me throw it.  Then took it up to 2000 w/light polish.   Works for what I wanted it for.
